Cars used for weddings and funerals are exempt from ph and hackney licencing, as are their drivers. however, they must have hire and reward insurance of the driver/owner is doing the journey for "fiscal activity".

Our insurance when we had wedding cars Was fully comprehensive and included unlimited use for weddings. It was classic car insurance for our Rolls Royce and Jaguar Sovereign and cost about £300 per year for each car.

Were the vehicles barred from social, domestic and pleasure use,a lot of these top end vehicles used for weddings are private cars obtained by word of mouth.

I've had wedding car policies and classic car policies, none were ever barred from social domestic and personal pleasure use otherwise it wolud be almost impossible to do anything else with them! Even my historic buses have SDP cover.

My view is any vehicle going to the wedding event, and taking the wedding party away from the service, are free from licensing rules.

Anything else, like the airport run the following day, are not.

I'm not aware that this argument has been put to a court of law, but from what I've read it is only on the day of the wedding that it is a wedding car. Hen and stag nights are not part of the wedding ceremony, nor are trips to the airport the day after.

The chief "benders of rules" have been our friends in the stretch limo industry, so maybe I've read it somewhere in connection with one of their cases.

So I'd suggest taking the bride/groom/people from house/hotel to wedding venue counts, as does from wedding venue to party venue and taking away after said event would count as "wedding use". Anything else isn't.

If my memory serves me right, there was a case that went to court regarding a stretched limo company that tried to claim that the hen or stag do was part of the wedding and they lost.

Please have a look at the Road Safety Act 2006 letter posted on here ,it clearly states that a wedding or funeral car must only be used for weddings or funeral to remain free from licensing.
