Driver dies in 'frenzied attack'

Mohammed Ashraf was found slumped on his car horn
A man repeatedly stabbed in a frenzied knife attack and left slumped at the wheel of his car has died.
Police say Mohammed Ashraf, 34, may have been working as a minicab driver when the attack took place in Plaistow, east London, on Saturday night.

Mr Ashraf, from East Ham, was found by a member of the public in his red Nissan but died on the way to hospital.

Det Ch Insp David Brown said he was the "victim of a frenzied and sustained knife attack".

A police spokeswoman said Mr Ashraf, who was married, was slumped on to his car's horn which sounded until police arrived on the scene.

Last movements

Detectives want to speak to two women, possibly passengers in the Nissan Primera car, who were dropped off in Phillip Street shortly before the attack at 2330 BST on Saturday.

The car registration is M756 KVK.

Det Ch Insp Brown, who is leading the murder investigation, said he wanted to trace Mr Ashraf's last movements and speak to anyone who knew him.

He added that Mr Ashraf had been planning to sell his car and police were keen to speak to anyone who may have spoken to him about the vehicle.

A post-mortem examination on Sunday found the cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

I’m surprised this sort of incident doesn’t happen more often knife wielding thugs are a disease up here as well. It seems every insignificant little runt is packing a blade but thankfully taxi/ph drivers don’t seem to be at the top of their hit list.

Hope they get the [edited by admin].

Now that you've made a couple of dozen posts Mr xsczc, I'm beginning to see a trend developing - you don't like minicabs?

Even I don't go that far.

Come on be sensible, someone dying is not particularly worthy of a comment like that. :?

 A 16 year old man? from Limehouse London has been charged with murder. Two 20 year olds from Plaistow London have been charged with conspiricy to rob.

Whats the betting he get out in two years?

He cannot be named for legal reasons, too young to be named but not to kill?

Two things Mr/Ms London Newbie.

Are you a London Taxi driver? or a 'Taxee Boss?' driver?

Your avatar belongs to a large mad hairy jock who wants it back.
