Aberdeen taxi firm’s appeal to trace fare dodger after he leaves behind his bank card

https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/new ... bank-card/

An Aberdeen taxi firm has publicly called-out an alleged fare dodger – who left his bank card behind.

Aberdeen Taxis said the man took a trip from its booking office in the city centre to Banchory, before legging it from the vehicle, leaving the driver £45 out of pocket this morning.

In the post on Facebook the firm said police have been contacted, but the driver is willing to “drop the charges” if he comes forward and pays.

Aberdeen Taxis wrote: “Police have been informed but we was hoping our kind Facebook community would share this to allow his friend’s and family to see.

“If he is kind enough to make contact and pay the driver he has agreed to drop the police charges.

That's not the way the law works I'm afraid.

Too soft. I'd get them to pay AND let the police prosecute.

Guess the card wasn't contactless, as that would sort £30 of it.

Happened to me once , 2 drunks done a £20 runner ,shouting as they where running down the road
stick your £20 fare. I looked on the back seat and there was a phone and a passport ,brilliant.

Next day the mother called the phone ,i put her in the picture and to tell her son to call his phone and i will return it
in exchange for the fare plus ''costs'' ,he didnt call back. I sold the phone and destroyed the passport a few months later.

There is a few numptys out there.

Seems fare has been paid, but wouldn't be surprised if police had never been involved anyway.

Scottish Sun not holding back in naming him though, unlike the more restrained Aberdeen Evening Express.

'UTTER EEJIT' Man named and shamed as Aberdeen taxi firm accuse him of fleeing from car without paying

Connor Cruikshank left a driver from Aberdeen Taxis £45 out of pocket after doing a runner this morning, but left his bank card behind

A MAN has been named and shamed by an Aberdeen taxi firm for feeling their car without paying.

Aberdeen Taxis posted an angry status on Facebook this morning saying that Connor Cruikshank had fled from one of their cars to avoid paying.

The driver was left £45 out of pocket but then discovered his passenger’s bank card in the back seat.

And the cab firm said police had been contacted but were willing to drop any charges if the punter came forward to pay his dues.

A worker at the firm told us today that the bill had been settled.

This morning’s Facebook post contained a grab of Connor’s profile and read: “This cool dude on the right Connor Cruickshank thought it would be a sound idea to do a runner this morning. He took a taxi from our booking office to Banchory leaving the driver £45 out of pocket.

"What Connor was not smart enough to realise is that he left his bank card in the back of the taxi, silly boy Connor!

“Police have been informed but we were hoping our kind Facebook community would share this to allow Connor’s friend’s and family to see.

“If Connor is kind enough to make contact and pay the driver he has agreed to drop the police charges. As no matter how rock and roll you thought you were in your moment of wisdom it is indeed a criminal offence.

“Connor once your tail comes out from between your legs please call.”

Facebook users responded with a mix of amusement and disgust.

Laine Milne said: “Oh my god that’s brilliant. Well done Aberdeen Taxis. Shame on you Connor, you utter eejit.”

Iain White said: “Haha dumbass charge him double for being so stupid.”

Jillian Reith said: “What an a***.”

Connor himself replied to the post and appeared to admit the stunt before making arrangements to belatedly pay the fare.

He said: “Bit mad last night oi oi.”

The firm replied: “Are you paying up then?” and after he promised to do so added: “We look forward to hearing from you then.”

Connor has not responded to an approach for comment.

Seems they've kissed and made up. Not sure if it's a  or =D>

https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/new ... g-forward/

The firm have now updated their post confirming he has come forward to give a full apology and pay his fare.

They said: “The young lad who didn’t pay for his taxi journey this morning has been in past the office to give a full apology for his actions during his drunken stupor.

“We shook hands and laughed it off.

“He is a genuine young lad who maybe just made a wee error of judgement!

“We did not realise how viral this would go and just hoped someone would reach out to him to pay the fare, this has now been done.

“Well done for doing the right thing in the end and the upmost respect to you for coming in paying the fare and apologising.”

Some times social media does a good job.

Driver got his cash, and the world now knows what the f***ing numpty the Conner fella actually is.

Especially when any future employer will google the name and up will pop these articles, and TDO will never remove them. :D
