It would be really funny if people who believe the claptrap on this site were not beihg led blindly into a minefield called de-limiting.
It is not difficult to see that you want to make the plate barons walk in the front, to clear the field for you, but there are always a few that are overlooked. When you finally free the "slaves" in your own parish, will they carry you through the streets on their shoulders, like a hero, or are you likely to end up like Sparticus, on the road to Rome?

For 'claptrap' you seem to seem to spend a lot of time on here trying to counter it jimbo.

"Trying" being the operativer word.

As for your analogy, some people want derestriction, others don't, it's that simple.

But for me the level playing field is paramount, not the 'do as jimbo says, not as jimbo does' scenario. :D

And to create your level playing field, will you return all payments for plates? Or will that just be collateral damage from the minefield?

Jimbo, its basically do as TDO says, he cant accept another view point. He believes that his world view is the only one that is correct.

So you think your worldview is incorrect then Mr 187ums?

If you don't, then you can obviously make your own accusation towards yourself.

If you do think your world view is incorrect, then that's a strange attitude for anyone to have #-o

Well that would be an idea, but I doubt if someone selling a plate in good faith could subsequently be made to cough up the proceeds to the buyer.

But if someone risks money on a plate, should they be reimbursed if their foolhardiness results in them being out of pocket?

Who would buy a house knowing that it might be demolished in the future without compo?

Only a speculator, and should speculators be bailed out if their speculation turns sour?

Could you explain the parallel?

I thougth there was fraud and suchlike involved with Lloyd's, so I don't really think it has any relevance to taxi plates. I mean it's always been perfectly legal for LAs to delimit if they think fit.

No Fraud. They made an investment that turned sour, and cried foul, got compensated for their loss.

I agree that it is perfectly legal for LA's to delimit if they think fit.

And thankfully 70% of councils are fit, and 11% are un-decided. That leaves the 19% that are not.

Of course all employed LPH drivers come under the working time directive already.

They don't need to work the crazy hours that some of those green chaps do.

The Hells Angels in the US of A have 1% 'er on their Jackets. Think I might just put 19%'er on mine. 8)
