An AA poll has stated that 25% of drivers are ready to make the switch to an electric car. The choice of vehicles and the growing number of charging points has made switching easier and with reported health threats to taxi drivers, should taxi drivers switch to?

Ignoring the obvious spam of the OP - Yes, once range is extended to an actual 300+ miles.
I do less than 100 miles in an average shift, my day driver about the same. I could put the car on charge for at least 8 hours when I finish, and the day driver can work until the range is 150 miles left for me.

100% certain I will go electric.

One mate has one another one will early 2019.

Their cars are a bit too small for me, but I'm ready and waiting for the manufacturers to up their game.

Correct, and hopefully soon we will be getting an electric car option for the cars we all drive.

Till HMG find a way to tax them to the hilt cos they will lose billions in road fuel duty

Mercedes have a fully electric version of the Vito for sale in Europe and it’s coming here next year. 60-90 mile range but no range extender/generator. #-o #-o #-o

eVito. The new eVito is suited primarily for urban delivery. However, its range and load capacity also meet the demands of tradespeople and service technicians. An installed battery capacity of 41 kWh delivers a range of around 150 kilometres (93 miles). Even when conditions are unfavorable, the customer still has a range of 100 kilometers (62 miles). The full range is restored after six hours of charging.

So if a tradesman is out on a job it the battery goes flat at 6pm it's going to be 12am before he gets home. They're going to sell them in their thousands.

It's probably like the electric TX and one of the prius. It runs on battery for 62 miles, when thats flat a conventional engine takes over. But unlike a hybrid the engine doesnt charge the battery.
