Doesn't seem that this incident happened while the perp was actually driving his taxi, but certainly seems to have occurred as the result of the victim being a customer.

Taxi driver exposed himself to elderly customer after kisses on cheek in 'bizarre' incident

Russell Jordan, from Loftus, went on to perform a sex act in front of the pensioner

A taxi driver who exposed himself to an elderly customer has lost his job and his marriage, but been spared a prison sentence.

Russell Lee Jordan, 48, from Loftus, took advantage of the “vulnerable” woman who was shaking with fright as the cabbie sidled up to her and began taking off his clothes, York Crown Court heard.

“He said to her, ‘Don’t be shy’,” said prosecutor Rob Stephenson.

Jordan exposed himself in front of the woman and then, to her horror, performed a sex act on himself.

“She was numb and in shock,” said Mr Stephenson. “She didn’t tell anyone immediately, but later told (relatives) and the defendant’s employer.”

The incident happened at a flat in Whitby in April last year.

Just before the incident, Jordan had parked his taxi outside the property.

The victim, a pensioner who cannot be named for legal reasons, came forward to police about two weeks after the incident and Jordan was arrested. He was hauled in for questioning and ultimately admitted exposure.

Jordan - formerly of Whitby but now living in Loftus - lost his job following the incident.

The court heard that the victim had regularly used the taxi firm which then employed Jordan.

“However, at some point (in the course of Jordan’s work), he started putting his arms around her and giving her a kiss on the cheek,” said Mr Stephenson.

On the day in question, the terrified woman “didn’t know what to do” when Jordan approached her and began taking his clothes off.

“She became frightened and began to shake,” added Mr Stephenson.

The barrister said that Jordan, who had lived a blameless life until then, put the incident down to a “moment of madness” and said he thought “she might like him”.

“He said he understands that it has had a massive impact on her life,” added Mr Stephenson.

“She felt violated (and) that he had exploited her vulnerability and her trust.”

Andrew Semple, for Jordan, told the court his client had no previous convictions and was a hard-working man.

“This offence was very much out of character and somewhat bizarre,” added Mr Semple.

The incident occurred at a time when Jordan, who is a father, was “on the cusp” of marrying his long-term partner, who has since left him.

“His marriage has ended,” added Mr Semple. “He has lost his job and (his) taxi licence has been revoked. There’s no chance of him working in such a field again.”

This had plunged Jordan into debt, though he had since found new part-time work as a delivery driver.

Judge Andrew Stubbs QC told Jordan that the offence, which he described as “troubling in a bizarre way”, fell into the “highest category of this type of offending because of your targeting of the victim”.

He said it had had a “dramatic” effect on the victim, who lived alone.

Jordan was given a four-month jail sentence, but this was suspended for a year because the offence was out of character and the judge did not deem the former cabbie to be a risk to the public.

In addition, Jordan was ordered to sign on the sex-offenders’ register for seven years and complete 20 rehabilitation days.

Our trade does attract some utter scumbags.

Thank goodness this one is no longer one of us.
