Obviously a slow news day in Blackburn, but a few slow news days in the taxi world as well

But can identify with this to a degree - makes a mess of vehicle's interior as well :?

Taxi driver Muhammad Ashraf slams 'unbearable' blocked drain

A BLOCKED drain is making a taxi rank ‘unbearable’ for customers, a cab driver has said.

Muhammad Ashraf, who operates from the Blackburn Railway Station taxi rank, said the drain is causing the rank to flood in bad weather.

Mr Ashraf, who has worked as a driver for nine years, said heavy rain causes a giant puddle several inches deep to surface.

The driver said he has called Blackburn with Darwen Council three times in the past week but no one has come out to sort the drain.

He said: “I’ve had customers get soaked as a result, they’re coming up the steps, not seeing it and trampling through it and getting wet.

“It’s unbearable for my customers, they get really angry when they see they’ve trodden through the water.

Cllr Phil Riley, executive member for regeneration, said: “This issue has been reported to us and we inspected the drain but due to the continuous and extremely heavy rain and wet weather there were several issues across the borough which needed to be dealt with.

"I can appreciate the frustration of the taxi drivers and customers, and we are anticipating this gully to be further inspected by Monday, December 10."

Surely it can't be that hard for the road people to unblock the drains.

Can it?
