I have heard some good ones but a driver who used to work with us told me that yesterday when he was dropping off an elderly customer at her sheltered accommodation another taxi was dropping off another resident. The two ladies started to chat he heard the lady from the other car say that she had just been charged £15.00 for her journey from town (around half a mile) because she had a cold!!!

Ah well, herein lies the problem. The first thing the LO asks when a complaint is made is "Are you willing to go to court." If the answer is no then that is the end of the matter.
The last time someone was overcharged and said yes they would go to court the driver was called before the committee. It turned out that at the time of the incident his badge had been suspended on medical grounds. The panel found him to be a "not a fit and proper person to hold a license" and he was given 18 penalty points and a warning letter. He still laughs about it now and he still overcharges.

melton is one of the last places in England to get invaded by the asian horde !!

For more likely to be M.E or his minion Clevor Trevor no strike that Trevor wouldn't have the brains to think up an excuse like that

So he was suspended, then? How many points do you need for a suspension?

No, it was not M.E. or Clever Trevor. it was another local chap who is not from any ethnic group. We do now have some drivers of Asian decent working in Melton. I think there are about 4 of them. One works with us. He is a nice chap and a christian, which is a bit strange.

You can be called before the committee for 12 points but suspension is not automatic. but in this chaps case, he badge was suspended on medical grounds. He has been caught overcharging on several occasions but still has his license.
