Second Liverpool passenger dead within a few days, although no suggestion of fault on the driver's part this time.

(Not sure if this was in the Liverpool City area precisely, or where the car is plated - no sign of any plate in the pics.)

I think it’s more the fact the back bumper Has been ripped off. Let’s hope the driver pulls through.

So you go out to work, and then some c*** smashes into you, kills one of your passengers and nearly kills you.

This trade has some high points, but by f*** does it have some low points.

Much-loved East Lancs Road tragedy taxi driver in fight for life

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/li ... d-15914244

Cab passenger Michelle Jennings was killed in last Wednesday's smash while driver Dave Sherwin is seriously ill in hospital after sustaining a catalogue of injuries

The heartbroken brother of a taxi driver whose passenger was killed in a horror smash has revealed the cabbie is himself fighting for his life.

Michelle Jennings, 35, died in the crash on the East Lancashire Road in Croxteth, on Wednesday, leaving a husband and two children, aged five and seven.

But also seriously injured was cabbie Dave Sherwin who broke his neck and ribs, ruptured his spleen and had multiple bleeds on the brain.

Giving public updates on Facebook his brother Ian said: "My brother is in a very serious condition and I honestly don't know if this is going to end well, if at all."

He described his sibling, who was at the wheel of his Ford Mondeo taxi when the accident happened, as "the person who has always protected me, looked after me..."

And he wrote: "Today we were told that he is very unlikely to survive or if by some small miracle he does, he will not be the person, brother, uncle, father or husband that we once knew!

"We are totally heartbroken.

"Cherish your own family with all that you have, because life can be so cruel!"

A BMW driver - a 26 year-old man from St Helens - was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has been released on bail. The crash happened at 5am.

Taxi passenger Mrs Jennings, who came from Fazakerley, died in hospital from her injuries.

Mr Sherwin also urged drivers to slow down to prevent more tragedies.

He said: "Don't let such a tragic event have to happen, in order for you to change the way you drive.

"Slow down, be careful and considerate, put your phone away and on silent.

"Put your seatbelt on and don't drive while under the influence!

"If you do this already then great, if you don't, stop now before you have to potentially live with the consequences for the rest of your life!"

Mr Sherwin added: "How do you make sense of it all?

"They are saying how grim that the situation is, but our kid just appears to be lying there asleep, just wake him up and he will be back on his feet in no time, right?

"If it was only that simple.

"I've always thought that he was made of sterner stuff than me, hard as nails, tough as old boots, rarely gets ill and even when he did, didn't have time for doctors or nurses, just got on with it.

"This makes me think or hope, as others who know him have said, if he has any type of subconscious sense of what is going on or ability to fight his condition, he will with every last breath.

"This may seem as some wishful thinking or naivety, but we have to remain as positive as we can, as miracles do and have happened in situations like this before.

"Our deepest sympathies are also with Michelle's family, who must have suffered unbearable pain in this needless tragedy.

"I sincerely hope that they eventually find peace and are able to continue with their lives, in some shape or form. Xxx "

Two fundraising pages have now been launched on sites JustGiving and GoFundMe, with a combined total of more than £16,000.

Released whilst they gather evidence and build the case.

Normal practice.
