My son is getting quite a lot of work for his Merc from using google ad words. We have used them for the taxis for a few years now and because none of our competitors do it the cost is minimal.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Spend your money on a decent website, rather than a leaflet drop.

In London I would work with the apps companies whilst I was building up a client base.

As for having a firm with more than a few mates helping out, I would sooner cycle a pedicab.

He isn't in London, he is in Lincoln.

To run a taxi in London you would have to do "the knowledge" which I understand takes a couple of years.

Is that ALL of London within the M25, within the North Circular or within Inner London?

You dont say where you are or if you are rural or urban

I'm in Lincoln. Just updated the location in my profile.

I'm intending to focus mainly on business customers. My business trading name is ExecuSmart. Had my car MOT 'd earlier this month and today had the Taxi MOT. Just waiting on some insurance quotes and I'll be putting the applications in for the Operators license and the car license. I hopefully have my ducks in a row in terms of getting started and to be fair, the LO has been quite helpful. He reckons both car and operators licenses could be pushed through in 2 to 3 days.
I do a bit of website development as a hobby, I wouldn't say I was by any means an expert at it but I pulled together a website and have integrated the quotations/booking into it. I will put it on-line on 1st week in March.

Cheers

How did you get a taxi test before insurance?

believe not 1 scrap of what a base says you can earn
Ours says you can earn over £500 a week (take home). When you look at the detail though it means doing 50+ hours, the first 25 hours just to cover base rent. If you do a standard 40 hour week you'll go home with less than £200 - or way less than min wage. !

They might as well say you can earn over £2000 a week (if you do 150 hours)

The base i was on had the usual revolving door system for drivers....go in, moan about lack of takings, go out and get a good week, meanwhile the other 30 drivers do the same 1 week apart getting 1 good week in 8

best way to get business is word of mouth second best used to be to shove business cards through letterboxes but nowadays it seems to be the internet is the first place most look

You may be right about the internet as opposed to more traditional methods, but struggling to see huge difference between a 'leaflet drop' and 'shoving business cards through letterboxes'.
