We go on T3 (double knock, 4.40 + 2.60) at noon xmas eve.

Whats the rate in your area? Ours is:

PH
7am to midnight T1 £2.20-£1.30
midnight to 7am T2 £3.30-£2.00
Bank hol's T3 £4.40-£2.60 (NYE & crimbo day =+ £5.00 per fare)

Well this is an interesting one although I'm struggling a little to work out your prices.

In Birmingham the usual price we charge on a normal day is £3 for the 1st mile and just add £2 to whatever the mileage is so 5 mile would be £7.

7am to midnight T1 £2.20-£1.30

How is this worked out?

double meter on the 24th after 8pm.
xmas and boxing day.
but we earn less now withg double meter than we used to with just a £2 extra.
in other words the pricks how decided our fares have done a ggreat deal for the drivers.
less money.

Sorry, Tariff 1 is single time £2.20 for the first mile then £1.30 a mile thereafter, Tariff 2 = 12 midnight to 7am, Tariff 3 = Bank hols etc

A 5 mile job here would cost £7.40 (on a clear road without any jam's) on T1

Ah cgull, you must be Hackney then. We decide our own rates on Private Hire. I used to drive a hackney but there's not enough work around unless you do the 2-3am scumbags, i cant sit around on stations all day it drives me nut's! And we're not a city (yet) so a lot of Hacks are on a system as well during the day.

I'm pretty sure that taxis and PH share the same tariff in his manor. But that's another story.

Oh dont get me started on under cutting!

We went through that a couple of years ago, After losing about 40 drivers he finally saw sense and listned to what we want! We had one company who went on a pound a mile but didnt have enough cars to cover the work without being dragged miles (unpaid) to a job.

My biggest whinge is unpaid milage!!

We now have a say in the rates (Private hire), after all it's a team game and without everyone participating no-one makes any money!

wait a minute guys...i thought the law for p/h say you cant charge any more than £2.60 for first mile ??? well, it is here in ayrshire, dunno about the rest of you guys  ... so how does that go with xmas day &new years day :? when they all up there prices ?????

@smiffyz (geoff)

£1.00 per mile !!!!

like a said....we charge £2.50 for first mile then £1.00 per mile ther after.

some of the other companys used to charge £2.00 for the first mile then £1.00 p/m after....but
believe it or not......all those 50p's at the end of the week can mostly make up a tank of fuel..honestly !.
so we all stuck at £2.50..EVERYONE !

oh yeh..2 companys are even thinking about RAISING the first fare to £3.00... oh yes let em do it....WHY ? cause its a small town here ( 12,000)
and people will just not go and pay another 50p extra for a local run
gotta luv em...lol there greed is my gain

In Birmingham there is no regulation on the prices although I think everyone here charges the same rate anyway, £3 for the first mile, or the other way of looking at it is this, whatever the mileage plus £2.

As a company we decide, but the others also charge the same rate.

It's not a rip off, everyone knows the rates, if they dont like em.....walk!
We wont buy work, whats the point.
Ive been asked many times to drive a route and check a price after a complaint. But usually as you know the customer, who usually pays a fiver to get home forgot that this time she asked the driver to stop at the shop for her ciggies!! and meters to tend to tick over.........................
