Yes it is right here in Melton Mowbray. There was an interview on Gem 106 with "a taxi driver" whose voice was instantly recognisable as one of our town drivers. He was asked about his earnings and how much was his biggest take in a day and he replied that it was between £500 and £600. Now clearly this may have happened once but I can see that some will think it is everyday.
This driver is the same one who recently left us and requested a fare increase whilst offering discounts. I wonder how he will justify the raise with his earnings?

Cannot understand why people divulge what they take whether it is true or not to anyone other than the tax man.

Anyone who quotes their earnings to the press is a c**t, and a prize one at that.Image

No benefit to anyone in the trade whatsoever.

I have now had the chance to hear the interview myself and it certainly raised some concerns. He was asked about how many runners he has had and he replied that it wasn't many because now if he has young ladies in the back of the car who start giggling and taking their shoes off he locks the doors. no is it just me or does anyone else think that this could be a bad move. He now has some possibly drunk and vulnerable women trapped in the car, what is he going to do with them when he gets them to the destination? What is he going to do if they haven't got the money for the fare? How is he now going to resolve the issue of being paid? Is he going to just say oh well lets forget it but make sure you have the money in future? Or is he going to threaten them? or is he going to sk them to make payment in another way?
