Another 'mows down' headline from the Echo, which, as I've said at least twice before, makes it sound like a deliberate act rather than a tragic accident [-(

Although suspect some on here more worried about the use of the words 'private hire taxi'

The man, in his 20s, suffered serious head and facial injuries. The driver stopped at the scene

A man has been left with serious head injuries after being hit by a private hire taxi in an incident which also killed his pet puppy.

Police and paramedics were called to the junction of Brighton Street and Buchanan Road in Wallasey at around 6.30pm on Monday (November 25).

They were responding to reports of a male pedestrian being hit by a Peugeot Expert private hire taxi.

The man, in his 20s, received serious head and facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, while his puppy died at the scene.

The driver of the taxi stopped to assist police with their enquiries.

Merseyside Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

Anyone who saw the incident or has any information is asked to contact Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit on (0151) 777 3372, or call 101 quoting reference number 19100690804.

And at least one contributor to the comments section agrees with me [-X

Shoddy clickbait. "Mows down" makes it sound like you're trying to say it was a deliberate act. The fact the driver stayed behind to help the police implies it was just an accident.
