Speeding Doncaster taxi driver had woman 'fearing for her kids' lives' as he refused to slow down

A woman was left ‘fearing for her kids’ lives’ when a taxi driver for Absolute Cabs in Doncaster refused to slow down despite the children crying because they were so scared.

Emma Casken, from Wheatley, was taking her four children home from Astrabound play centre on Wheatley Hall Road on Sunday (December 26) when the taxi driver ‘absolutely put his foot down’, allegedly racing at more than 50mph down the busy road.

Ms Casken’s children, aged between four and seven and two of whom are autistic, were crying in fright but when she asked the driver to slow down he told her not to criticise his driving and carried on speeding.

At one point he drove his gold Peugeot Expert so fast round a corner that he nearly crashed into a wall, according to Ms Casken.

“We were going so fast and the children were screaming and I asked the driver to slow down and stop scaring the kids. He just said it was his driving and that he could drive how he wanted.

“I was fearing for my kids’ lives and tightening their seat belts. Some of the children are autistic and find it difficult in taxis anyway but he wouldn’t stop speeding.

“When we came round the corner near the Carphone Warehouse he was going so quick that he nearly smashed into a wall.

“The disrespect he showed me when I told him not to go so fast was disgusting. Nobody should ever talk to a person like that.”

After the taxi ride Ms Casken phoned up Absolute Cabs to complain and was told that they knew about the speeding and would be contacting the police, and would get back to her.

Since making that phone call Ms Casken says she has heard nothing from Absolute Cabs.

“They obviously don’t care about complaints,” she added. “They are no good.

“Earlier this year they trapped my mum’s foot when they were getting her mobility scooter out of the back.

“I complained then and nothing was done. I will never be using them again. I’ll walk before I use Absolute Cabs again.”

Once the Doncaster Free Press contacted Absolute Cabs the taxi company got in touch with Ms Casken and offered a full refund.

A spokesperson from Absolute Cabs said: “We have our own internal disciplinary procedures and we have spoken to this driver and given him a final written warning. If he does anything wrong again he will not be working for Absolute Cabs anymore.

“This driver will also not be allowed to pick up this customer again.”

However, Ms Casken said that she would like more severe action to be taken and the driver removed immediately.

“The problem is still there,” she said. “What if it happens to another person with their kids?”

Suggest the lady complains to the local council.

If it's his first complaint then he should just get a warning, however if he is a serial nutter, then best he f***s off from our trade.
