'Taxi' stopped by police in Derby had 'large quantity of drugs' in it



A taxi stopped by police in Derby was found to be carrying "a large quantity of drugs". Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted details of the incident which happened in Derby on Sunday.

The driver was stopped on Stenson Road at around 9.20pm while officers were carrying out speed checks.

Officers say the private hire taxi was registered outside of Derbyshire. The taxi's plates were seized by officers after the driver was allegedly found to be "in possession of a large quantity of drugs". The driver was then arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession with intent to supply.

A Derbyshire police spokesperson said: "At 9.20pm on Sunday 21 June, roads policing officers were carrying out speed checks on Stenson Road in Derby. "A taxi was allegedly being driven over the speed limit and the car was stopped.

"While speaking to the driver, officers became suspicious that there may have been drugs in the taxi and they carried out a search.

"They found suspected cannabis and cocaine inside. The driver was arrested for possessing cannabis with intent to supply, possessing cocaine and drug-driving. He was questioned and released under investigation while inquiries continue."

Wonder if he has received an immeadiate revocation and put on the National Register.

so if he'd stuck to the speed limit he wouldn't have been caught
