My Vauxhall Insignia is close to the end of it's serviceable life. My next car could be my last and need to last beyond retirement.
I'm reluctant to stay with diesel or petrol because I think the writing is on the wall. Normal hybrids appear to be going the same way because of their greater reliance on petrol to keep the battery charged.
I don't see the point of plug-in hybrid. You get about 60 miles on electric but still have an engine that needs servicing and fuelling, so not much saving on servicing costs.
That leaves EVs. Those with a decent range are beyond my budget so I'm looking at second hand Leaf, Ioniq or MG ZS EV. Then, I have to plug it in. A communal parking area, with exclusive space, will necessitate running cable across neighbouring land for about 8 feet. More cost!
So much to think about. Anyone feel like thinking out loud with their ideas???
