Two people have been taken to hospital after a road accident involving two taxis from the same company in Hartlepool today.

Another person was treated at the scene but did not need to be taken to hospital.

Police and the North East Ambulance Service were called to the roundabout at the junction of Brenda Road and the A689 Belle Vue Way, close to The Stag and Monkey pub, shortly before 11am today, Saturday, August 22, after reports of an incident involving two cars from the town’s Twenty3 Taxis.

A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed they had attended: “We were called at 10.46am to a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision,” she said.

"We sent a rapid response team vehicle and two ambulances.

"We took two patients to North Tees Hospital and treated a further patient at the scene.”

The vehicles have now been removed and the roundabout has reopened.

Maybe they should change their name to Twenty1 Taxis. 8-[
