Boris just announced in parliament that all customers (not sure about kids) must wear masks when travelling in a taxi or phv.

Should cause no end of aggro, but it’s better than being dead.

What about passengers that claim exemptions?

H&S assessment, I've decided you not wearing a mask puts my health at risk, so find another taxi/ph.

Remember the basic fabric/surgical masks protect others from the mask wearer, not the wearer from others.

My view is the law applies to them and the enforcement of that law is not down to you or me.

So if we take them we are ok, if we don't take them we are ok.

The world, or at least the UK, or at the very least England is going mad.

I still don’t care, and will not expect, punters to put on that scabby mask they’ve had in their pocket for the last six months.

What I do care about is the pointless reduction from 30 to 15 for wedding parties. Well done Boris, you’ve just f*cked up my daughter’s wedding, due in four weeks.

Does anyone really believe that futile gestures will save the day?

Might as well make breathing out a criminal offence.

Oh, and I’ve just tested and plated a new taxi today, so that’s me on my way to hell in a handcart.

Still trying to work out if the new mask rules relate to drivers as well.

And if it relates to kids/toddlers.

If anyone finds the guidance could they put it up on here please?

“Prime Minister Boris Johnson says face coverings will become compulsory in England for bar staff, shop workers, waiters and taxi drivers to help control the spread of coronavirus.”

What happened to getting an offer you couldn't refuse and retiring to the sun ?

You accused me of being unhinged and there you are buying a new vehicle at the height of the pandemic !

At least you can still have the wedding although this is the first one I have heard of that hasn't been cancelled! I hope the sun shines and everyone enjoys the day anyway and of course people can always attend virtually.

Just been asked by one of my drivers

"If I'm off duty on the way to visit parents do I still have to wear it"

In other words can we be stopped by the police with no passengers in the car and fined for not wearing one ?

I thought he mentioned taxi drivers as well but I have just played back what he said in the commons and he only mentioned passengers. So now I am a tad confused.

We all have a choice. We can either do what is asked and help the problem or ignore what is asked and be the problem.

This is what he said.

"Third, we will extend the requirement to wear face coverings to include staff in retail, all users of taxis and private hire vehicles,

Now to me that doesn’t include us as we are not what I consider users, but does include kids/toddlers who clearly are.
