Really Proud of what Melton Learning Hub is doing sending food to John Ferneley and Longfield School, helping Sharon At the Grapes with food for the elderly and supporting Storehouse.
Our Volunteer drivers are collecting people to take them for their vaccinations. If anyone has difficulty and requires collecting please ring 01664 483043.
We are also loaning one of our cars to The Lions so that they can collect people from their homes.
All this as well as delivering education to our young people.

Indeed.

Maybe these people can take a few taxi drivers to the food banks as they can't afford Tesco's anymore.

I also wonder if these volunteers have been DBS checked?

The learning hub is a special type of school so they probably are.

The person who put the post on facebook is the chair of the County Council and also a Councillor on our Council.

Would Rout V Swallow hotels be relevant here? I am not sure what size vehicles are being offered but they could be up to 8 passenger vehicles.

Yes it would be relevant if there was some kind of benefit for those doing the work. Not sure that’s the case here.

Not sure making a fuss will gain you many friends though.

No, We are all EMPLOYEES of the company and are on flexible furlough. all the drivers and office staff are receiving at least 80% of their average earnings.
I know that it is strange to most people but we pay everyone above the minimum wage, except the directors who actually get below the minimum wage because we are not hourly paid but on a salary. Everyone gets 28 days holiday pay, company pension and all the other benefits that come with being employees. When we set up the business we stated to the Council that we wanted to offer people a proper wage and that we were not in it to make ourselves rich. The directors have never had a dividend and any profits are re-invested in the business.

Mam who sticks to his morals, good on you Grandad. The greedy operators of which many access this site should follow your example.
