A taxi driver sexually assaulted a teenage passenger after talking to her about sex toys, a court heard.

Dad Adbulrahman Hussain, aged 37, kissed the woman on the mouth as she went to pay her fare, a jury was told.

She told his trial that she burst into tears after he tried to put his tongue into her mouth.

The woman, then aged 18, said that earlier in the journey Hussain had asked her if she preferred “real men or using sex toys”.

Father-of-three Hussain is facing a jury at Plymouth Crown Court after denying sexual assault.

He said that that the teenager started the sex talk on November 10, 2019.

Hussain said that she had hugged him and kissed him on the cheek.

The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said she left a city social club at about 5pm that Sunday.

She added she contacted Need-a-Cab to take her to an address in Plympton.

The woman said that Hussain picked her up in a Ford Mondeo and they shared “small talk” at the start of the journey. She sat in the front passenger seat.

But she continued that the driver told her that two women passengers had had a conversation about sex toys in his cab.

The woman said: “I was just really shocked, I was not expecting it. I did not really know how to answer it. I said ‘OK, like, Oh!, a one-word surprised answer.

“I gave one-word answers. I wanted to stop the conversation. I did not want to be rude and say ‘shut up’.

“He then asked me if I prefer real men or using sex toys and if I had a boyfriend. I was shocked and a bit embarrassed. I would not expect to talk about something like that with a stranger.”

The complainant said he also paid her compliments, saying that she was “beautiful”.

The woman said he had asked for her number and she had entered it on to his dashboard-mounted phone and called herself so that it was stored.

She said: “I was embarrassed, I don’t know why I went along with it. I did not know what else to do.”

The witness added that she reached down into her handbag on her lap for a £10 note to pay the fare.

She said: “He moved his face forcefully towards me and tried to kiss me. He kissed me on my mouth. He tried to put his tongue in my mouth.

“I moved myself back and went ‘Whoa, no’.”

The woman said she threw the £10 note at him and left the cab adding that she “burst into tears”.

She called the taxi company and the police to report what had happened.

The complainant said later she had a Facebook friend request from the taxi driver, which she blocked.

The court heard from two women who saw the complainant shortly after she arrived at the destination.

One said that she was “shaking”.

Hussain gave evidence to say that the journey had taken between eight and ten minutes.

He added that she had talked all the time, initially asking him questions.

The defendant said: “She was the one talking about the sex toys.”

He added that the woman also used the phrase “plastic penis.”

Hussain said: “I just said nothing and focussed on driving”.

He denied paying her any compliments.

Michael Green, for Hussain, asked him: “You already know that the prosecution case is that as she was looking in her bag for some money, you reached across and kissed her. Did you do that?”

He replied: “No.”

The defendant said that she had asked him to call her phone because she had lost it.

He added that he called the number and they heard it ringing down the side of the seat.

The taxi driver said she had given him a hug and kissed him on the cheek as she paid her fare.

He denied sending her a Facebook friend request.

The trial continues, with the jury likely to go out to consider their verdicts tomorrow.

A taxi driver has been acquitted by a jury of sexually assaulting a teenage passenger.

Married father-of-three Abdulrahman Hussain, aged 37, has been cleared of kissing the woman after a two-day trial.

He told Plymouth Crown Court that the woman had hugged him and kissed him on the cheek at the end of their journey.

Mr Hussain denied making inappropriate comments during the 10-minute trip across the city – saying the 18-year-old front seat passenger was the one talking about sex toys.

He told the jury: “I just said nothing and focussed on driving”.

Mr Hussain, of Romney Close, Honicknowle, had always denied sexually assaulting the woman back on November 10, 2019.

He was first summons to face city magistrates last July.

Mr Hussain, who was on unconditional bail through the proceedings, has been released from the court as an innocent man.

The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said she left a city social club at about 5pm that Sunday.

She added she contacted Need-a-Cab to take her to an address in Plympton.

Mr Hussain told the jury that the teenager started sex talk, which he ignored.

He added that he said nothing and she hugged him and kissed him on the cheek as she left his Ford Mondeo.

Mr Hussain admitted taking and calling her number but said it was only to find her lost mobile, which had fallen on the floor of the vehicle.

Michael Green, for Mr Hussain, asked him: “You already know that the prosecution case is that as she was looking in her bag for some money, you reached across and kissed her. Did you do that?”

He replied: “No.”

The court heard that Mr Hussain had been in Plymouth since 2005 and had worked in a factory and in security before becoming a taxi driver.

And all of this could have been sorted within hours with CCTV.
