Bradford Street was closed off following the incident

Two people were taken to hospital after police responded to an argument between taxi driver and customer in Walsall, it was understood.

Officers and paramedics were sent to Bradford Street at around 8pm on Thursday, March 25, following an emergency alert.

The street was sealed off and pictures seen by BlackCountryLive show a blue and white police cordon in place.

Dozens of worried residents took to social media to speak of their worry at seeing the emergency response.

"Be careful if you're travelling in Walsall tonight as Bradford Street is blocked off," one said. "The street is cordoned off and police are letting anyone through.

"It looked pretty serious - so I would avoid if you can."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said paramedics treated two patients for injuries that were not believed to be serious and taken to hospital.

But a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said no-one was injured and units were in the area responding to the trouble.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by police at 8.18pm to an incident on Bradford Street, Walsall.

An obvious contradiction there - maybe the injuries not serious, but they were still injuries, and still required hospital treatment.

Of course, performative policing is easier than prosecutions and paperwork.

And the PR policing mode is even easier
