Leeds woman issues terrifying warning after 'creepy' Uber driver 'follows her home'

A Leeds woman has issued a terrifying warning after she claimed a ‘creepy’ Uber driver attempted to follow her home.

The woman, who has asked not to be named, had ordered a ride home on the app in the early hours of this morning (12/07) after she had been out in Leeds watching the England team play in the Euro 2020 final.

But she soon became suspicious of the driver when he begun questioning her about "whether she lived alone".

So, she decided to get dropped off two streets away from her house and walk the back way home.

However, when she arrived home she was shocked to see the driver circling her road slowly with his headlights on, in what she believes, was an attempt to “figure out where she was”.

The post read: “Girls watch out please!!! Girls I’m literally telling you watch out for sketchy Uber drivers at night alone, I had to RUN home.

"Just took a Uber home, the guy was asking me if I lived alone I said no I have housemates and whatnot.

“There was a £20 note just left on the seat. I read a while ago that it could be dangerous, as I asked this Uber driver to let me off [two] streets from where I am.

“He sat there I walked via some back ways. His car kept going in circles trying to figure out where I was. I got into my house put all my security up.

“To have him with his headlights going down my street very slow. I lied what my address was”

She also noted that when she handed the driver the £20 note back he had “attempted to lock the doors” - but luckily, she had already opened her door.

The woman said she has been put off ever ordering an Uber again and the incident has left her unable to sleep and suffering from anxiety.

Uber spokesperson said that they were investigating the incident.

The spokesperson said: "What has been described is totally unacceptable, and we are currently investigating this incident.

“We have a zero tolerance policy on any such behaviour in the Uber community."
