I'm sure everyone's been subject to aggression from punters for refusing to break the rules, but stabbing is taking things a bit far ](*,)

(Not that it particuarly matters, but assumed it was a PHV, but possibly an out-of-area HC.)

Taxi driver stabbed after booking row outside popular Solihull bar

It's the second stabbing in the town centre in the space of a week

A taxi driver was stabbed after his car windows were smashed during a row in Solihull.

The victim was parked outside the busy strip of bars and restaurants in Station Road on Sunday night (August 21) when a row broke out between the driver and a couple.

The driver, aged in his 30s, told the man and woman that the taxi had to be booked in order to be used.

His car windows were smashed during the incident and the driver was stabbed in the arm.

The man's injuries were not life-threatening but he was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We’re investigating after a taxi driver was stabbed in Station Road, Solihull at 11pm last night (August 22).

"The driver, in his 30s, was stabbed in the arm but thankfully his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

"It is understood an argument broke out between the driver and two people – a man and a woman – over the taxi, which had to be booked in order to be used.

"The taxi windows were smashed during the incident."

It's the second stabbing to happen in Solihull town centre within a week, after two men were rushed to hospital after being attacked with a bottle outside Popworld nightclub, located just around the corner.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Station Road, Solihull to reports of an assault at 11.20pm on Sunday.

"An ambulance and paramedic officer attended and found a man who had sustained an injury.

"He was given treatment on scene before being conveyed to hospital for further care."

Police are keen to speak to any witnesses who may have information on the couple, who were seen walking away from the scene.

Information can be reported to police via Live Chat, quoting crime reference 20/923905/21, or by calling 101.

here's hoping the police take this seriously and throw the book at the assailant we don't want people thinking they can use extreme violence to force drivers to break the law

And still operators up and down the country are confused/miffed that drivers are coming out and working nights.

Yes you can be attacked in the day, but the vast majority of these attacks happen at night, often late at night.

Hope the fella gets better and returns to work, and hope the scumbag thug gets what he is due.
