Not much here, and couldn't work it out to begin with.

But think it's one of those where 'taxi rank' is actually referring to a cab office. (And probably not a 'taxi' office either.)

And which is usually the press using the term 'rank' in a misleading way, but this is an official West Yorkshire Police appeal/press release.

(Of course, would hardly be a surprise if this was written by a former journo now employed by West Yorkshire Police, or if the author eventually goes the other way and join the ranks of the journalism profession [pardon pun]).

Appeal for Information After Taxi Rank Damage, Halifax

Police are appealing for information after an incident in Halifax where a vehicle was used to cause damage to a taxi rank.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, 4 November, 2021) between 1:30am and 2:30am at A-Star Taxis, Bull Green, in Halifax.

A vehicle was driven into the taxi rank and caused significant damage to the building.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Calderdale CID by calling 101, or online via www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat quoting reference 13210566843.

Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

And the Halifax Courier has upped the ante a tad in its headline, although the rest of it just rehashes the police news release.

But, as Edders says (I think), basically a car has been driven into the side of a PH office.

Anway, wonder what happened? Presumably nobody would damage their own car by deliberately driving into a building, but the police say it was 'used to cause damage', so presumably they think it was deliberate. Stolen car?
