Britains 195,000 white van men are not normally known for their concern for the environment. But the government is prepared to spend £1.3 million teaching themhow to do their bit for the country's eco-system by giving them special driving lessons. The government is paying for 200 instructors to spread the gospel of greener motoring. The first 3,500 van drivers to enlist on the scheme will get their lessons free. Others will have to pay for the one-day course-a combination of classroom work and on-the-road training-costing between £50 and £100. They will be taught how to use their gears better, avoiding over revving the engine and keeping a better distance from the car in front by not dabbing at the brakes. (?)
Well, it goes on, blah blah, you get the picture, glad I don't drive around in a (converted) Van
