Hardly a big surprise this is being heard in private session. Recall that the committee chairman thought all drivers automatically eligible for the bounce-back loans, and he didn't seem to know the difference between a loan and a grant
Taxi drivers apply for longer to install CCTV cameras in vehicleshttps://www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/198 ... -vehicles/MEMBERS of Craven District Council's Licensing Committee will next week hear two applications for the delay of the installation of CCTV cameras by taxi owners.Last year, the council became the first authority in North Yorkshire to make it mandatory for taxis to have CCTV fitted from the start of 2022. It also made it clear that owners of taxis would be able to apply under its hardship policy, for a longer length of time to install the equipment - the cost of which has been estimated at between £450 and £630.
The Licensing Committee, which delayed the introduction of security cameras during the coronavirus pandemic and because of taxi owners concerns over cost of installation, has insisted that the cameras are essential for the protection of both drivers and passengers.
Tuesday's evening meeting of the committee will hear both applications in private session, without the public in attendance. There will also be an update on the installation of CCTV in licensed vehicles.
