Officer's eagle eyed spot leads to private hire taxi driver arrestA knuckle duster and baton were found after a taxi was stopped by police.
Merseyside Police today said Operation Pelican officers arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of possession of two offensive weapons. Police were carrying out checks on the private hire vehicle but while speaking to officers, they noticed there was a baton in the door of the car.
Following a full search of the Volkswagen Passat, police found a knuckle duster as well. A man was arrested and taken to custody for questioning.
Sharing the news of the arrest on Facebook, Sefton Police said: "Operation Pelican have this evening arrested a 45-year-old male for possession of an offensive weapon x2.
"Officers have carried out checks on a private hire vehicle, whilst speaking with the driver Officers have noticed a baton in the door of the vehicle. A full search has then been completed and a knuckle duster has also been recovered.
"The male was arrested and remains in custody awaiting questioning."
