Motorist admits causing death of Uber passenger by dangerous driving

A MOTORIST admitted causing the death of an Uber passenger by dangerous driving today.

Steven Boochoon, 25, was driving a car in Hornsey Rise, north London, on August 13 when he crashed into the private hire vehicle.

Hairdresser Franca Grossi, 52, was in the back seat of the Uber and killed.

During a hearing at the Old Bailey, Mr Boochoon, from Hornsey, north London, pleaded guilty to causing her death by dangerous driving.

The defendant, who entered his pleas via videolink from custody at Pentonville prison, also admitted driving while disqualified and uninsured. He was remanded into custody ahead of sentencing on November 18.

Judge Angela Rafferty ordered a pre-sentence report and warned Mr Boochoon that the “very serious” offences mean a jail sentence is certain.

The penalties for causing death by dangerous driving are usually between one and 14 years in prison as well as a driving ban for a minimum of two years, the Metropolitan Police said.

clearly is a dangerous driver I think people like this should be barred from driving for 10 years until they are mature enough to take safety seriously

I suspect he will get a long ban, as well as a few years in jail, and he will have to complete an extended driving test before he gets a new license.

But if I was a betting man I would say he is not going to bother with such formalities, and will merely carry on driving without a license.
