sat at the BUS stop as the taxis where striking (on go slow) which caused town to become grid locked (ok nothing wrong with a protest)

But what was DISCUSTING was the Fact that there were a group of taxis on a go slow on bridge foot roundabout. when a ambulance with blues and twos going was delayed for about 10 mins whiles the taxis moved....

i dont mind being delayed for a hour trying to get home as that doesnt put a life at risk.

but they drivers of them taxis make me sick the ambulance wouldnt be rushing to the hospital for No reason would they???

unhappy in warrington...

I don't think the delay to the ambulance would have been wanted by anyone

Maybe a withdrawl of service on Fri/Sat night would have been a better idea ?

If anyone needs to protest in this manner it usually shows that they have little faith in their substantive case anyway.

they would have had more notice taken if they drove up and parked out side the town hall!!

with out the negative publisity they are going to recive from all the local press!!

Yes, I think that while the public generally respect the right of people to protest, when it inconveniences them or especially things like ambulances then it has a negative rather than positive effect - ie they've shot themselves in the foot.

What was the dispute about anyway?

Yes, I thought it would have something to do with this thread, but there were so many different issues in there that it wasn't immediately obvious what the dispute was about #-o

Probably just having a good moan about everything

This will end up with the council binning quotas. :-$

BREAKING NEWS Traffic chaos as taxis go slow

TRAFFIC has ground to halt late during rush hour following a go slow campaign by irate taxi drivers.

Around 10 hackney cab drivers started the process around 4.30pm at Bridge Foot.

The drivers then made their way slowly towards the roundabout near Mersey Street.

By 5.20pm between 80 and 100 cab drivers had joined the protest.

Police threatened to arrest the cab drivers if they insisted on continuing with the protest.

According to reports, the protest was expected to carry on until 7pm.

Cab drivers have made protests about council decisions in recent weeks, making a silent process at last month's full council meeting.

Oh I bet that put the 'fear of christ' up the councillors.

If you continue to take the Saviour's name in vain, I'll have you for religious hatred.

Yep I got caught up in all the traffic grid-lock this protest caused. Not much fun and I bet the Hack drivers won't win many friends by pulling stunts like this. I have some sympathy for them but the general public who havent got a clue what its's all about won't.

Bill

I don't think anyone reading this forum knows exactly what it's about either Bill.

But, from the Warrington board, is it the issue of PH 'ranking' close to the hack ranks?
