Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who could assist with their enquiries following of a report of an assault of a taxi driver in Liverpool city centre.

At around 11.30pm on Saturday 15 February two taxis were involved in a no damage collision on Paradise Street and a passive verbal argument between the two drivers ensued.

It was further reported that the passenger from one taxi got out of the vehicle and became verbally aggressive to the other taxi driver, and then punched him in the face multiple times.

The victim sustained bruises to his face and a cut to his lip from the assault.

The offender then made off from the scene.

Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued a CCTV images of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.

Detective Inspector Steve Street said: “This was a nasty assault which left the victim with a black eye and cut to his lip, and it could have been a lot worse.

“This incident took place at a time where it would have been busy with people enjoying the nightlife who will have seen the incident take place on Paradise Street.

“If you were in the vicinity at that time and witnessed the assault then please get in touch.

“I am also appealing to the man featured in the images, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”

road rage is equally as likely to be the passenger or the driver in all circumstances and in this I suspect it was both except the driver controlled his temper better
