ANy way on a different note, I was in LOndon today and I saw cars that were even older than mine, and they all seemed busy, any idea how long it would take an outsider to become a taxi driver in the big smoke?

Ages and ages, I would'nt bother, the games dead, no money out there, we're all chasing the same punter, better off on the dole.

If the Liberals have their way then it shouldn't be more than a month or two.

There's as much chance as that happening, as you getting a for hire light on your minicab Daniel.

Theres been stories banded about from the 'geoffs' of our world since sat-nav came in about 10 years ago, trust me the quality control will stay.

The 'lets water down' the Knowledge crew always have a couple of things in common, their either minicab drivers who can't be bothered doing the 'K', but want the right to ply for hire, or they are Taxi drivers who drive desks in air conditioned offices, worrying more about their share options than the Taxi trade.

Usualy called Geoff.

Well guys in my regulated area we are going to have survey which we the owners of the cabs are to pay for. I understand that it will focus on how quickly we clean up the ranks - obviously you guys will deem this as not accurate.

lol I wouldn't bother too much about cleaning up the ranks, if Oxford have told TPI they don't want to issue any plates and you say that has already been decided by the council then TPI will surely deliver what the council wan't.

The council already has decided that it will not deregulate, so my investment is safe for at least another few years, word is they will issue another 10 - 12 plates, I believe that this will impact the trade as we are under constant pressure by the buses and private hire.

Yes your investment is safe but I wouldn't get too complacent?

iSo i guess my plate is good value it allows me a good decent of level and yes I drive " an old banger ", but I tell you what tourists love my car and nearly everyday I get a picture taken.

I'm glad the public love your old banger 187, how long do you plan on keeping it?

On Friday and Saturday nights people have a choice of transport, some people enjoy waiting in the taxi queues, its part of British Culture. Anyway my point is deregulation in some areas is the best way otherwise it would be choas.

I can't agree that people enjoy waiting at a Taxi rank? especially when its pizzin down with rain on cold bleak night.

If you look back at my original thread what i said was that in some locations some form of regulation is the best way.

If the council said ok we are going to deregulate in your area, however you have to buy a 25 grand LTI TX2 is that also not a from of regulation?

I rest my case.

Which bud might that be? I thought ABC only had about 4 hacks on their system.

as usual twist the words to suit what ever you like ........ in fact you probably have more in common with the BNP than I do.

p.s. why not come down show your faces and extoll the virtues of deregulation, I am sure you would be more than welcome and welcomed with open arms, in fact the guys will decorate your path with roses.

So how do you conclude that Mr 187ums, or did you just throw that one in for the sake of it because you couldn't think of anything else?

But I included a smiley just to confirm that my comments were not supposed to be taken too seriously, but I suppose you'd need a sense of humour to appreciate this

That was a smiley there, by the way :D

I trust you're being ironic here?

Little point in coming 'down' then

By the way, are you implying that you know where I live, or are you just approximating?
