All three of the regular online trade news sources are carrying articles on this, and as normal making a wee bit of a meal of it. Or at least one or more are, but I suppose that's what happens when you rely on you-know-what for your output

But it's maybe newsworthy because it's on the Wolves 'public protection' Twitter/X account, and it's unusual for them to post about any wrongdoing at all, and it's usually more of an excuse just to show that they're undertaking compliance operations, in a PR-ish style. And I certainly can't recall one like this :?

Wolverhampton Council public protection wrote:
This afternoon, Compliance came across this @WolvesCouncil PHV on a taxi rank, in St. Helens Town Centre, Merseyside. The driver argued that he wasn't parked on a rank, I beg to differ!! A private hire vehicle is NOT a taxi, don't stop, pick up or drop off on a taxi rank.

PHTM very straight bat about it, and a suitably brief piece:

WOLVERHAMPTON COUNCIL COMPLIANCE TEAM OUT ON PATROL IN ST HELENS TODAY

DM News also quite brief about the case itself, but an AI-esque 'commentary' splurge bolted-on about the wider plying for hire and enforcement stuff :?

Wolverhampton-plated PHV caught parked on taxi rank in St Helens, says council compliance team

TaxiPoint is the oddest one, though. Typical padding out, and also the odd comment that "St Helens Council officers reported the incident on Monday..."

Can't see where the evidence for that comes from. The article links to the actual post on the Wolves account, and quotes the tweet in full, and zero evidence from that that St Helens officers were involved [-(
