A GREENOCK taxi driver has appeared in court charged with exposing himself and sexually assaulting a woman last weekend.

Joseph McKenna is charged with removing part of the woman’s clothing during the alleged sexual assault in Regent Street on August 16.

The 36-year-old faces a further allegation of exposing his genitals in a sexual manner with the intention that the woman would see them on the same date.

It is alleged McKenna committed the offences while acting in his capacity as a taxi driver.

He appeared from custody at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday, with the case being continued without plea to a summary case management hearing.

McKenna, of Lincoln Road, was granted bail and is due to return to court on September 11.
