Reminds me of when I first started in the trade jockeying someone else's car.

I happened to pick up some of the owner's friends, who were telling me how one of his previous drivers had 'let him down badly', particularly as the owner allowed the driver to work 'as many hours as he wanted' (this was commission-based wages, not a rental, so basically the more hours the driver worked, the more profit the owner made).

So I was wondering what the driver had did to let him down - make off with a month's takings, drive the car over the cliff, or take off for South America with the car and takings. So I asked what had happened?

"The driver got his own car", they replied.

you constantly trip over youre own plates.

first stating that taxi drivers dont make the tarrifs

and 3 minutes later stating that it was he as a trade rep that put the proposal forward .
balloon
oh and you have not to go to him for finance if you want to be a taxi owner
"go see youre friendly bank manager"

is mark on bad terms with the blackhorse these days ?

Just what we need a tariff rise. The 30% in tariff increase over the last 5 years has proved one thing, less takings for everyone concerned. Bloody marvellous don’t you think. Now the smoking ban and another little 7% rise, the final nail perhaps. “Not to worry well just put up the driver’s rental that way he can pay out even more for less by working more hours”. Problem solved.

I wouldn’t let these ass**** lose with a knife and fork let alone the taxi trade. I’m surprised Mr Muldoon is not telling everyone to get on a bus. ImageImage

Can’t think why anyone would not want to pay £300 for a rental or 40K for a plate in this economic climate, do you?Image

Could this be the end of their totalitarian state? No more state regulated quantity controls? Don’t tell me the pigs are taking over introducing a free market quality control model. (This part was for Torncasualty who obviously knows sod all about animal farm)

Quality controls? don't make me laugh piggy features.

How many PHC drivers have been reported by the cab inspector in the last 3 years for illegally plying for hire?

If they can't regulate and enforce now, what chance do we stand after your massive increase, AND if they do, just watch criminals like you scream, and how much will the licensing fees have to increase then to pay for it - or will you get JD onto that one too, seeing as its about consumer protections.

Notice youve avoided my point about your exploitation of poor drivers on your PHC. :?: :?: :?:

Given the amount of posts on there relating to peripheral matters (like trying to impugn this site's integrity  ), it's amazing how little is being said about the Sheriff's decision.

Maybe it's more a case of shock than panic. :?

Well TDO I remember the good old day when you got a hard days work for a dam good thrashing. In these days you wouldn’t even consider letting the proletariat get hold of a book. Keep the buggers down that’s what I say. You never know what might happen. They might turn out just like us.

Now we can’t have that can wee.Image

Animal Farm is about a Stalinist Totalitarian system. A bit like the system we have with the C.E.C, state controlled private and public behaviour.

Are you a complete ar**

Everyone works within their system not my system.

What the feck are you on about? Are you really that stupid or is it just an act.

Yes, a bit like the Pre-Reformation days when 'the Word of God' could only be entrusted to the clergy and the Bible was only available in Latin, thus precluding the masses from direct access to it. But the printing press and English translations put an end to all that.

So maybe in a small way TDO is the taxi equivalent to that.

I'll be Luther, JD can be Calvin, and Sussex Zwingli.

And you guys in Edinburgh can all be John Knox. :D

Yes, I suspect the quotas and unmet demand surveys are a bit like tractor production figures in the former Soviet Union.

And the prols can queue for taxi plates in the UK, as per the bread queues in the Soviet Union.

And the taxi lanes in Edinburgh are like the Zil lanes in Soviet Russia - only for privileged Communist Party apparatchiks.

Doesn’t it astonish you how a belief system is sold to the masses on the imperfection of every other system while being denied the right to question a system based on perfection.

God is perfect thus anyone who questions god is an infidel.

A bit like C.E.C, to every plate holder they are god, the trade representatives are the clerics.

And we are the infidels the only problem is our god is more perfect than there god and if you don’t agree your dead.

sacked, that implies you are employed or at least see youreself as an employee, youre not you have none of the benefits of employment, and all of the pitfalls of selfemployment. the worst of both worlds, rather than the best.

There are several reasons why someone would move stables. And not one of them was the operator selling out.
Sacked is a word you use often. And I responded to your sad attempt at humour.

Pray tell me, on application forms, when it comes to occupation. Do you right "I only drive one for a living."

Don't you mean RINGMASTERS !

I am here to serve nobody but my family. I pay for the use of another drivers vehicle, to earn a living. I have never had the slightest interest in having a plate. I myself and a big majority of others are happy with the current situation. If you can't accept that, well hard lines.
If your read my post's on Fasties you would see that I actually say if Ali-t gets his plate fair enough. If you had waited till next year, you would have got it without all this hassle.

Mr Thomson

First, once again you avoid the question. par for the course.

Second, I will not rise to your usual word games.

And finaly, Who am I ? Nobody really, its you who thinks your someone.

Want to swop medication Mr Thomson? I'll give you a packet of tamazapan, for say 2 packets of your paroxitine.
