I think it's saying well done to all the lads that have fought for their plates, and to all those good looking chaps that have supported them. :D

May it carry on.

No miscommunication, no blame and what’s more we all agree. Sounds about right to me or did we forget to ask someone?

Can’t think who?

Couple of wee points

Chipper - yer awfy defensive about the saturday night seagulls, but I've no problem if you just do your job, just don't try doing my job, cos the law don't allow you. I'm not questioning your ability to make money of the scale of your profits, the amount of bollock I hear everyone in the taxi trade talk I believe only what's in my pocket at the end of the week after I've paid my bills. The real question I keep asking Skull is below, or are you just a chip of the old slapheid - sh!t they've got me imagining multiple personalities now

Skull ya bic heided criminal - why you still hammering the airport if the PHC's are so profitable, and who you exploiting on yours?, or do you philanthropically let them drive it for free, as it's the way forward - aye sure

I can see this is going to come as a shock but Ph drivers can choose to drive or own without having to pay an artificial plate premium for a public licence. There’s a big difference between £700 and £40,000.

Now explain why anyone should pay in the region of 40K for a plate to buy a job?

Come on Torncasualty at least make an attempt at answering the question. Give us all a laugh why don’t you. I appreciate the abuse more than you know and some of it is quite humorous but repetitive. Show some originality insult me in a novel way. You will make a fan out of me yet.

Ph drivers are governed by market forces they do not operate in a restrictive market. They have in fact a choice to own or drive. The rentals charged reflect this directly. No one is forcing them to anything. They offer their services and pay drivers rentals dictated by the state of the market. If they are not happy they move on to a cheaper or more suitable arrangement, or put on vehicle for themselves. This is why you as a Taxi driver or the trade as a whole cannot compete. In a few years we will be overrun by Ph. We are already earning less than we did 5 years ago while paying higher rentals and plate premiums.

Like I said before the Ph is a growth market.

The taxi trade has a restricted number of taxis therefore a limited amount shifts available. The over supply of drivers exacerbates the situation making the drivers market overly competitive. The owners market is monopolistic. They don’t compete for drivers services they dictate. We already have drivers struggling to get shifts or paying over inflated rentals to retain drives.

As unpalatable as it may be it is the truth.

This is how I know you own a plate because if you didn’t you would see the truth of the argument but all you can see is what you stand to lose and lose you will.

The only people who have f*** the trade are the ones who think they have it all only to find out they had nothing. It was all just an illusion waiting to be taken away by their own greed.

You see that's why I don't give a sh**

You are thick but at least you make a fine foil to skewer the argument.

well the reason iam defensive about saturday night seagulls is that i just dont do it but you on the other hand think that every PH on the road does no dought there is a few who do but please dont make out that we all do.

iam of the same mind as you i only care what is in my pocket at the end of the week there are loads of people who talk bollocks on both sides of the trade when it comes to what they earn thats for sure, caught one bloke telling some one he makes £500 every sat night

as for not doing your job. sorry to say but i do only diff is i dont pick up off the street.

I'll get round to anwering that one when slapheid answers my question, AND accepts I don't own a plate. How many times does he have to be told to get it through his thick baldy little heid - no plate. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I DON'T OWN A PLATE -period, no ifs no buts I DONT OWN A PLATE. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Now when the thicko bic-heided ranter accepts that, and answers the question i asked him, then we can start a new wee debate about my views on transfer of plates between family members. As I dont own a plate I cant transfer it to any kids of mine, and theyed be sent for a lesson in manners from the criminal thug to make sure they never wanted to drive any taxi if they even thought about it. And before you start ranting about my Dad, yes I had one, no he didnt drive a taxi, and he deid! There again I could always ask him to come back and haunt you two.

well why should you be able to transfer a plate to anyone.
you cant transfer your PH plate you have to hand it back to CEC they then in turn re issue it to someone else now that sounds like a great idea to me

no more 40k price tag only a nice wee £700 now that sounds just about right to me :D :D :D

chipper you have it bang on.
that is whats supposed to happen, the plate is supposed to be returned.
in fact the legislation does not allow for the transfer of plates.
it was c.e.c legal department, and the greedy vestied interest parties, that found a loophole, whereby you could have the plate as an asset of a company, and sell the company ,not the plate.

of course while the c.e.c have in effect! rubber stamped the black market in plate transfers, thierby ensuring that none are ever returned to the council, and they accuse us of que jumping lol. you will never get them to say they are worth any money in fact they will say the opposite!

which makes you wonder why c.e.c would endorse such a practice.
and leave the poor cabbie who paid £40+ k for a plate up the creak without a paddle, when dereg comes a calling, and it will! make no mistake about that.

and while we are at it £700 whats that for :?:
seems a bit to much for a simple mot and admin charge dont you think :?:

yes you are bang on there as the test for the motor only takes 35mins

but then again CEC have to pay that big taxi bill they run up

i wonder if i was to try and transfer my plate (PH plate)as a asset of a company would it work :?: :?: i bet not.
i have been told that i would have to hand it back a apply for a new one but i have not asked about transfering it as a company asset wonder what the answer would be
