Athough you have taken what I have said out of context again, it's a fair point.

Edinburgh Council is a bunch of dirty duplicitous bas*****. If you think these people give a sh** about you or anyone else for that matter you are dreaming.

The begging bowl mentality is just what they want to here.

Without access to equal legal representation you have no chance, and they know it.

In short, the council use their unfettered access to the legal and political systems to beat you down, and keep you down.

Well its about time we dipped our hands in our pockets for our own legal representation. If th ph can do it why can't we.

Say £10 a month per driver. collected by the radio companies. And put it into a legal fund.
Now radio companies alone would collect on average £22,000 a month.
With that sort of money we could call in the proffesionals

I take it you read the article in the evening news tonight ? If you did, does it at anytime refer to the ph as private hire taxis ?
No it doesn't, and thats not because I went to them with a begging bowl.
It has taken me several letters and a threat to take them to the press complaints to get them to call ph , Private Hire Cars.

You may see that as a minor issue. But its a start.

Drivers and owners, equal representation, a formula for increasing plates in Edinburgh with an open waiting list for drivers, no discrimination or exploitation, period. Market forces subject to quality controls for drivers entering the trade. No prohibitive vehicle choice and no council dictatorship. Every driver represented by the trade for the trade.

If a driver speaks out, someone listens.

Nelson Mandela was once asked “why did you become a terrorist”? His answer “no one would listen”.

This is the least I would accept. On the other hand this might not be acceptable to some. I would have to ask them first.

Know this, de-restriction/deregulation is coming.

If you think I care you would be wrong.

I am only interested in one thing. :wink:

Wish I could be @rsed writing anymore about him, but I'd rather leaving ranting in the corner like the raving auld eejit everyone knows him to be. still wont stop the PH getting in to the greenways ross its on its way trust me on that one the arguament that we sit the brief and pay 40K for a plate woooooops sorry buisness and 30kish for a black cab gives you the right to be in the greenways dont make me :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Council leader Donald Anderson said today "We do not relish the thought of legal action and would prefer to have a reasoned debate with these drivers and examine any potential impact of what they are asking

"We have various groups asking for access to the bus lanes - freight, motorcyclists and disabled drivers - and we have to establish if there is a special case to be made for private hire cars."

i bet Mr Anderson does not relish the thought of legal action as they are fighting the plate issue and this is the last thing they need right now i bet.

Jim Muldoon, chairman of the Scottish Taxi Federation, said: "If private hire vehicles use the bus lanes, other motorists will follow them and clog up the road. It would defeat the purpose of a bus lane. Breaking the law is indefensible in court."

lets take the issue of "other motorists will follow them and clog up the road" what if every Taxi was to use the greenways when they were active would that not cause the roads to CLOG up :?: :?: lets see 400ish buses and 1200 black cabs mmmmmmmmm i wonder.

not every PH is on the road at the same time as is the same for TAXIs so the cloging issue is a dead duck if you ask me as for Mr Coutts statement in the paper last wk yes we could cause serious problems if we all hit the road at 8am. just the same as if every Taxi was on the road at the same time so lets get real. :?: :?: :?:

Perhaps it would be easier to look at what happens in the rest of the world?

And why were taxis a special case in the first place then?

You might find this surprsing but until this post I almost had a kind of respect for you. You seemed to be happy as a private hire driver with no wish to drive a taxi. Kind of looks a bit different to me now, you seem to want to claim your PHC as a taxi, which makes you a taxi driver, yet youve previously claimed to be happy driving your PHC. :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

So - here we go - the word in your quote above from the conditions that should have been highlighted was IF; as in IF a taximeter is fitted. They've found by their own incompetence before, that they cant make you have a taximeter. Get it taken out if you dont want to have it, and charge what you want, the choice is all yours. And remember the fare on your meter IF youve got one fitted is only a maximum, theres nothing to say you cant refuse to charge the full fare, and give it away at half price. Also, (not sure on this but sure TDO will wade through the regs for me if I'm wrong) theres nothing to say you have to accept the new tariff, if and when it is implemented, and you could leave your meter running on the old tariff AND give half price metered fares. :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

While your at it you can always pop round to ASDA and ask them to roll back their fuel prices to 01 July 2004 when we last had an increase, or maybe if the councillors decide against the increase why the council tax hasnt stayed the same since then too. You might also want to ask the councillors and their officials when they last had a pay increase too, and whos paying for their pensions, but thats a whole different can of worms to open. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|
