but since the red mist seems to be blinding you why dont you simply ask the council, both these list are public knowledege.

here is what will happen to you or any one else that is caught in the greenways.

you will be reported to the fiscal

the fiscal will prosecute

the district court will find you guilty

the cab inspector will report you to the council as not being fit and
proper.

the council will pull you up and administer thier summary justice on you.
and this will cost you and you alone!
you will notice that mr couts claimed he would pay legal bills of those caught.
why then do they now need to pay £10 each for a legal fund

why are ph not allowed in the greenways ?
is it becouse under the act thier is a differance between public and private hire vehicles ?
is it something else ?
dont get me wrong im kinda on youre side in some ways.
after all if the hacks dont want to meet the demand that you now meet, and the one that they would stop me from meeting in my own hack vehicle.
then i dont see what the problem is.
they cant have it both ways, iether meet the demand and be the only taxee service and reep what this offers.....or
someone else will find a way to meet the demand that they wont and cant service, and dont be surprised if those people once in a position of strengh suddenly start demanding thier rights or a change in the law.

well TornCasualty iam happy driving PH nothing has changed there and i dont want to turn myself in to a TAXI the point is that ross and others think that becoz the have passed there brief that this gets them acess to the greenways so if thats the case i will pass my brief then i to will get acess to the greenways also why does every 3rd TAXI that i pass these days have a GPS fitted to them i thought that the taxi trade was that good being that they have a brief .




again ross has said in his post "It has taken me several letters and a threat to take them to the press complaints to get them to call ph , Private Hire Cars" so lets see if he will take on CECand get them to change the rules as in a way they are calling PH TAXIs and thats the point i was making and i bet he does not.
i know about the fare table and that its a maximum and there is nothing to stop me quoteing a lower price if i want but we all have motors, tax man, insurance etc to pay so i will always charge the maximum that i can and also we have contracts that are metered fares so thats why i have one fitted.
also there is nothing to stop me saying that i charge "TAXI METERED FARES AS PER COUNCIAL GUIDE LINES" as i would be telling the truth and the public then put 1+1 together and come up with the answer that PH are TAXIs.



well i shop at TESCO but yes i agree that there should be a fare increase as the cost of running a motor or TAXI has gone up up up since the last increase.

the greenways is not about the PH driver its about a fare deal for the passangers who use our service.
look at asda, tesco etc they are in a market where competition is fearce and they have to offer a good if not better service than each other to get the buisness and this weather you like it or not will or should i say is happening in the HIRE TRADE thats why some in the TAXI trade just hate the PH. in my view i can see that one day if you want to buy a plate from the councial and drive a black cab you will be able to do so and not pay 40k for the pleasure.
i bet you will always look for the best deal when you are in the market for say a TV for example

dont worrie i will not put my neck on the line for anyone thats for sure but the £10 seems to be for the Private Hire Association in edinburgh and as yet no one has asked me for any cash but when i find out more i willl let you all know.

this all sound a bit like the taxi trades reps you never find one when you want lol

It wasn't so long ago that we where not allowed in the then bus lanes. The deciding factor in allowing us in was that we where all wheelchair accessable.

Now, what is it so hard to understand that ph are not taxis.
A meter only becomes a taxi meter when fitted in a taxi.
As for the fare table, thats something I have in the pipeline to be changed to read PRIVATE HIRE CAR TARIFF.

I agree that passing your brief doesn't give you right to drive the Greenways, but being a fully wheelchair accessible taxi, with a driver who has passed the topographical knowledge test and associated Telford modules does. As for a fair deal for the passengers, why not just stop the meter from running on time when stuck in traffic, there's nothing to say you cant do that, or just knock the £3.00 Mr Coutts claims is costing the passengers extra. Now THAT would be being fair to the passngers. Your supermarket comparison doesnt hold up sorry. Tesco claim they compare 10000 items with Asda etc every day, but they sell much more than 10000 lines in each store and dont always compare the ones you buy every week, and Asda have a price match system where if you bring in a printed offer from the others they will match it, but just for you, they dont go reducing the price instore, nothing to say you cant price match a taxi, by turning off the timer on your meter when the fare gets in, or would the real reason be PHC in the guise of Mr Coutts arent that interested in the public interest.

Lets face it Mr Coutts is using the public interest issue as a self serving lever to get Greenways access. I personally dont have an issue with Greenways access for PHC BUT if, as I guess its being used as the thin end of a very fat wedge for full recognition as a taxi, then I oppose it. A taxi is a taxi and a PHC is a PHC.

GPS - The taxi's I spoken to who have GPS, generally say they are worthless for longer distances and use their knowledge to get them there the shortest practicable route (or whatever it says in the conditions) and just use the GPS for fine tuning the streets at the end ie Craigmount Hill or Brae etc. Many of course have brought them with them from their days as PHC drivers too Many have also said that GPS systems dont always provide the best routes as they will often use just main roads etc, it depends on the set up. I've thought of one, but havent bothered yet, I'll wait till my brain is as fried as Skull and Co's before I do that
