I know two cabbies who were accused of molestation . Had it not been for the fact their accusers stories were not consistent with what the claimed both of these guys would have been for the high jump.

One woman claimed the cabby had got in the back with her and locked them both in she claimed she tried the back doors but could not get out. This is impossible in a hack as the driver can only control the locking of the rear doors from the front. This guy nearly gave up cabbying altogether.

I can't remember the exact circumstances of the other but needless to say his accusers story did not hold water. I think there was another witness involved who caved in and told the truth or got her story wrong.

If you are accused of anything deny it. The law and justice are almost totally divorced from one another.

What is it they say "justice must seem to be done" well that seems about right don't you think?

And here was me thinking that he admitted the offence.

Why all this sympathy for a [edited by admin], who was grooming a Schoolgirl, (he picked her up from school, bit of a clue there,) and "did not know" she was only fourteen. (how old did he think she was, being a schoolgirl, thirty?) I hope he never gets a badge again. We had a "chat up" merchant like that here last year, chased him out of town, the scumbag.

In conversation with ANY passsengers, avoid football, religion, etc like the plague. But Sex, unless you want to lose your badge, whilst you are losing your mind, is an absolute NO, NO, NO.

It's getting to the stage where you can't say anything to any customer, I must admit though, if I picked up a 14yr old girl from school I would not talk about anything sexual with her, even if she started the conversation.

I think calling him a "[edited by admin]" is a bit strong though, he may have just been trying to advise the girl, I think calling him "silly" would be more appropriate.

You know I hate this kind of thing, some guy made an inappropriate comment to a 14year old girl, but this now makes him public enemy number one, jimbo your comments are over the top!!!

Ignoring the specific case above, what can you talk to people about these days, never mind 14 year olds, I mean anyone at all, it's a serious issue, do you subscribe to the theory that Women are feeble minded creatures who need protecting from everything and everyone, so for fear of something being said that may be misconstrued as an attempt at chatting them up, you are really better to ignore them altogether, forget that they are only human beings, things are said in the course of any social interactions between human beings, male or female, so what do you talk about, football, religion, politics, sex, relationships, children, the weather, the environment, all these things are out of bounds, so we will all go around like zombies never talking to each other about anything, some world this is.

An interesting question. :?

I think it's best you talk about what they bring up in conversation. If they don't say nothing then maybe it's best just to say hello and goodbye.

Yes indeed this is an interesting question/topic as i for 1 will be very careful indeed now as to what conversations i have with the customers in the back of my limo, its generally accepted that the limo drivers have a good old banter and this is indeed why some of us like to drive them as its a very sociable and friendly job to do, on MOST occasions, however having read these posts i have to agree that even in the most innocent of cases things can be misconstrued and in our case we would have 8 people against 1. This is a major reality check to me and although to a degree i feel sorry for the said fella concerned with this thread it has been a lesson to me. Shame though as most of our customers would not rebook with what they considered to be a boreing or antisocial driver. This is where you have to say to yourself that the world has gone totally mad!!!!

Yep, tried that as well Sussex, that makes you an ignorant B******, or something strange about you  pointless really if you can be charged with breach of the peace for speaking out of turn or uttering something that someone finds offensive, whats the point of saying anything?

THis prove's the point, you are better off not saying anything to the customer's, sad I know, but that's the way it is.
Mind you, most off them talk a load of sh*t anyway :D

He could always get a job as a limo driver or chauffeur anywhere in Scotland except Edinburgh or Dundee...

No licence required, no need to be 'fit & proper'

You make a brutal but fair point Jimbo. But what [edited by admin] admits to anything? On the information presented I can't help but feel this 57 year old guy was just a bit naive right up to the point the officers slapped the cuffs on him. Probably thought he was giving the girl some invaluable advice.

The [edited by admin] bit for me just doesn't add up.

Where have you been Mr Paisley, you do need a licence to drive a limo and this is indeed being clamped down on most rigorously, you obviously have no idea what your talking about and for your own reasons dont like limos, however there here and here to stay.

I also pesonally object to being put in the bracket of QUOTE NOT FIT AND PROPER. This is some rash statement, but i am more mature than to start a slanging match here so i shall leave it at that and put it down to you having a bad day.

kind regards

Quite right, but I get advice from strangers all the time, Councils, The Government, and you dont get much stranger than some of those people.
