Below is a story about a piece of scum from Wales. :(

Just think when he comes out of jail, he will be able to work for a few months driving a London PH. :)

To get him back on his feet. :( :( :( :( :( :(

A PAEDOPHILE taxi driver was jailed yesterday after police found pictures of children as young as four on his computer.

Father-of-one Geoffrey Barnes, 53, was caught as part of the FBI-led Operation Ore worldwide crackdown on internet pornography.

Police discovered Barnes' credit card had been used to pay for access a child porn website.

Prosecutor Tom Crowther said detectives discovered 181 indecent pictures and 35 movie files on two computers seized at Barnes' home.

He said, "Almost a quarter of the movies were classed as level five - the most serious form of child pornography.

"There was one movie showing a grown man and a girl of about four performing a sex act.

"The source of these images was an American website called Landslide - the international operation has traced their subscribers.

"Barnes paid to access Landslide on at least two occasions, both times paying US$24."

The American owners of Landslide were jailed for "thousands of years" as a result of the FBI investigation.

James Evans, defending, said Barnes would now lose his job as a taxi driver because of the conviction. He said, "Barnes is a married man with a son. It has been an enormous difficulty for him to have to explain these allegations to his wife.

"His wife said she will stand by him so he does have a family to return to.

"But it is very likely he will lose his employment because he will be unable to get a licence."

Barnes, of Canton, Cardiff, was jailed for 12 months after admitting making and possessing indecent images of children.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC also disqualified Barnes from working with children and ordered him to register as a sex offender.

He told Barnes, "This is an evil and shameful trade - I have to have regard for the shame and degradation that the victims were put through.

"You were fuelling the market devoted to this sordid material," the judge said.

So lets get this right, because prospective PH drivers in London find filling in CRB check far too onerous, and really would like to work un-checked. They un-like the rest of the UK, and the London HC trade, can simply by-pass it.
What next one asks? Will they be exempt from MOTs because it really is a pain sometimes getting one of them.
Perhaps if the police stop one for drink driving, they will ask to be exempt from the breath test, because there is a shortage of drivers.
I'm sorry (as one of the biggest supporters of London PH licensing), but they have got this wrong. Start as you mean to go on, if you want to be respected and legitimized, then act like it.
Not like a little spoilt brat, who can't get his own way.

If you don't want to get a CRB check done, license yourselves as a small bus.

Insane?

You bet. But that's the law.

Totally agree your point CGull. But I just find the unfairness of the system a little hard to accept.

Teacher: One CRB when you start. (If you're lucky)

Taxi Driver: CRB every three years in our small town.

The point maybe that we are classed as citizens who NEED CRB checking, and if so, then that is down to the historic state of the trade.

Your welcome. :D

Point is it's the firms not the drivers that wanted the policy of non CRB folk licensed.
