How much is it to rent a radio on a ph circuit in edinburgh? Assuming that you are supplying your own licensed car/fuel/insurance. Just being curious.

around the £120-£130 mark just depends on the company and there is the cut of the contract work as well

is that with the firm suppling the data thingy in car? Can you choose your own hours? just log on and off when you want?

do you mean they have contracts that are at discount then take a cut from the driver as well?

yes most companys take a % cut off each job.
contracts are either set fares or off the meter.
some are good others are poor.

you pay you radio dues off your contract work and whats is yours.
i always pay my radio fees and have a good amount left over.

On average how much would you expect to pull in paying £120-130 radio dues working six nights 12 hour shifts with your own vehicle?

have never done six 12hour shifts yet skull.
during the wk i do between 6-10 hours depending on how the work is going or until i cant be bothered. the weekends are the big shifts around the 12 hours.
i have 1 day a week off and if its been a good wk 2 days but having my own motor is great a i can work diff days and diff times just depends on whats going on in my persional life.

Or is it worse than £6.25 an hour over a 72 hour week taking into consideration your Phc doubles as your private car?

never worked out the hourly rate but iam making more now than i did in my last job and thats after paying everything out.

The guy I've used as an example is on the edge. The poor bas**** has a wife, young kids, a mortgage, loans to the bank and credit cards.

think that we are all a bit like that but it just depends on how big the hole you are in is some guys think that this job (taxi or PH) will make the loads of dosh. i blame the "IAM MAKING LOADS OF DOSH" twits who tell lies as to what they make.

This guy is shi**** himself as to the availability of drives and what he pays for a rental. If he end's up out of a job or loses any more money keeping himself in employment it's game over.

i do feel sorry for this boy thats why i like to single man my motor i have no one to answer to.

How bad is it driving a Ph if he puts his car on and joins a circuit?

iam making a living but the market for PH and taxi is not that great right now and i think thats a uk wide thing.

So passing your brief and paying 40k is out of the question, not enough incentive to make you jump from the frying pan into the fire?

I bet you can see why other's are so keen

contract work can be a pain in the ar*e but when there is not a lot of work going they can keep you going.
i find that account work pays my radio each month and whats left over covers most of my fuel costs if not all.

Is the good amount to cover your fuel cost's as stated on another post ?

If you hand in £100 in contract to central/city, you are credited to account £100 before radio dues and discounts.
If you hand in £100 in contract to festival ph, you are credited £90 to account before radio dues and discounts

As opposed to handing £100 over to a taxi owner, and only getting £50 back.

no passing my brief is not out of the question skull as i cant stand the "we are great due to the fact we have passed a test" but paying 40k for a plate is deff out of the question.

right now i cant work set hours or shifts so a rental is no use to me thats why i drive PH.
but in the future who knows i might just see how the other half live

yes that is the case ross it covers most if not all my fuel costs just depends on what type of month it has been.

the PH and taxi markets work in diff ways in edinburgh and the same can be said for diff PH and Taxi companys but in the end i would rather have £90 than zero £££££££££. no one likes contracts thats for sure but they keep the wheels turning.

IMO its better to have cash coming in than sitting about wondering how you are going to pay this and that would you not agree ross :?: :?: :?:

A guy I know works for ComCab pays the plate holder £300 for 7 nights and needless to say only works 6 nights.

Rental £300
Fuel £150
Total £450

Now it doesn’t matter how you want to cut it this guy has to clear £900 a week to be on half the clock.

Hours 6*12 h= 72 hours

Average working week 36-38 hours.

Now divide £900 into 72 hours less 25% for tax.

Is this a f******g dream world were living in?

This is 72 hours night-shift in the saddle.

Now work the same hours day-shift as a parking attendant for the minimum wage i.e. £4.50 and hour.

What a f*****g joke

300 yesterday, long shift I admit but thats the costs covered, now six shifts or less to make a living.

Btw..220 in bag today...

Keep you updated tho, keeping in mind these are traditionaly the worst 2 weeks in Edinburgh

Well that's funny Jack I had one of your brethren on the phone last night, wanting to go fishing with his son. He reckons his takings a down at least a 1/3 on where he was three years ago. Oh and BTW this guy owns his own plate in CRT.

Keep talking it up Jack I want you to be right at least for the time being that way the fall is even greater.

Step out of the shadows jack if you want to take me on in an open forum be my guessed.
