Imagine the taxi driver's in london/birmingham/manchester etc going on strike for a week, it would never happen and the council's know it.

We've had several successful, well publicised drive ins over the years Rambo.

You don't always have to strike to achieve what you want.

Londons road infrastructure runs daily, balanced on a knife edge, 4000 Taxis heading towards one destination (such as Bank last year) can bring that (and his precious Buses) grinding to a halt very very quickly indeed.......

I would hardly go that far, if you applied that then your suggesting every piece of direct action / industrial actian is 'mob' orientated?

A two hour blockade progresses the City's / London assembleys views very quickly over certain issues, the people of the Brighton and Hove may do well to note this.

The LTDA was warning this would happen over two years ago.

Then of course we could get the GMB 'professional' foul mouthed drivers rep onto the case.

So bringing central London to a standstill amounts to ordinary industrial action?

If you reread what you wrote in your two posts relating to the this then it doesn't exactly sound very democratic, does it?

Why not organise a demonstration instead.

Oh, but I forgot, London drivers won't get out of their taxi, will they?

The Fire Brigade union done it by shutting half the deep level tube stations.

The RMT do every few months over some dispute or another.

How would you suggest that drivers take a dispute forward when the talking bit has ground to a halt?

If you want to be pedantic, but I think most people's understanding of the word 'demonstration' wouldn't include a drive in, and in any case what I meant by demonstration should have been obvious by the context.

But I think that if we all did that then the country would soon descend into chaos.

And what if a drive in fails? Suicide bombers?

im new to this computer lark [must be bloody obvious] have just read 3 pages of debate stimulated bya column i wrote last year. But it still makes sense to me. I want to work alongside all over parts of our related industries.ie hackney phv the present situation is so fragmented as to be farcial if we work together we will be succesfull. Frequently my articles are provocative, but how else do you tackle apathy?Yes we have a new Gen Sec in the GMB thank goodness! and he is the man who suppoted my first approach to the GMB.I beleive in industrial strengh. The RMT frequently demonstrate it and last week ASDA/WALMART the yankee union busting outfit got the treatment from the GMB and via Paul Kenny our new Gen Sec.I regard these exmples as showing the way for us or are you happy being topped up ripped off? Lets quote James Connolly Irish Freedom fighter and T&G official "the great are only great because you are on your knees arise"

Good idea 'brother', you could start by penning lies and fantasies in a little read publication, then, when challenged take on the good old 'it was tounge in cheek routine'.

Hows Blackpool? I hear the local lads are just queing up to join the GMB after your compliments about their home town.

I happen to believe Blackpool is a s*** hole, but if you think it's not, then so be it.

As for the bit about not picking up certain people from the ranks. Then Mr GBC you might be a good one, but we both know there are many that aren't.

If your making reference to 'brother' Flannagans 'allusion' that london Taxi's regularly drive by people who are from an ethnic minority background, then as with the other tosh he 'alluded' to, I eagerly await the evidence.

I regularly drive by lots of people, mainly wrong un's with no money hoping for a free ride, or kebeb munching drunks, who would have trouble convincing a tout to take them.

The colour of their skin makes to odds to me, its the colour of their money i'm more interested in.

Perhaps when the 'brother' turns his attention to your area, the sun won't be shining quite so brightly from a certain hole.

But when you write lies to swell your numbers I don't suppose it matters. :^o

I wonder how annoyed he will be if the Conservatives sweep to power next time? Seek refuge in Cuba? Heres hoping. :-k
