HEADLINE: SEX CASE DAD KILLS HIMSELF

A MARRIED dad-of-three threw himself under a train days after appearing in court on child sex abuse charges.

Paul Baxter had been charged with molesting two young girls more than 10 years ago. Baxter, a health and safety officer, had appeared on petition at Hamilton Sheriff Court after being arrested at his home in Uddingston, Lanarkshire.

But the 43-year-old church goer failed to return home last Thursday and his family alerted police who began searching for him. It later emerged he had flung himself off a bridge under a train near Newton station.

Baxter was charged earlier this month after complaints were made to police alleging he had abused two girls, aged between four and 11, in 1992. He was released on bail.

The part-time taxi driver had his licence revoked pending the outcome of legal proceedings.

Family members attended his funeral yesterday in the St John the Baptist Church in Uddingston.

A family friend said the sex charges had left them "shattered". She said: "No one could believe it when Paul was arrested."

Not trying to be funny but if he was totally innocent why kill himself why not prove it in court ?
