JD, my research involved talking to london taxi drivers, they all said the same thing, they were against people being able to operate as a PHV without any form of regulation, and I agree with them.

The written, documented, historical evidence doesn't lie and that's what matters, regardless of what any London cab driver might say today, tomorrow or the day after?

I think there are many drivers who think a licensed PH trade is better than an un-licensed minicab trade. It's just that some driver's groups at the time fought against licensing.

I suppose it's not too dis-similar to the 'ban don't license' cries from the LTDA and T&G we hear at the mo in relation to pedicabs. And as they did in the case of PH, the LTDA and T&G will fail.

Pedicabs will get licensed, because it means the goverment can earn money out of them. Simple.

True, but what the buffoons at the LTDA and T&G can't grasp is that when you put licensing conditions on vehicles that don't have them already, then you lose a lot of vehicles. The prime example being London PH.

Because they are now licensed over 20,000 of them are no longer operating, thus more work for the licensed trade, be that taxi or PH. The same will happen to the pedicab trade. IMO licensing will push up the fares they have to charge, which in turn will make them not viable.

You had better hope they succeed, when London sneezes Eastbourne shivers.

They have'nt cost me any trade yet, but a smaller place like the a town in Sussex?

Can you push up £15 from Covent Garden to Piccadilly any further then?

I think not.

They are unregulated, they will charge whatever pleases them, but you can bet your bottom dollar its twice the metered fare.

As I said originaly, if they get their way in the capital they will soon be at these nice seaside resorts taking money from the Taxi trade, I wonder what your hero Flappagan is doing about that issue?

NAFL I guess.
