Getting a bit PC here Jimbo, but if you want to f*** up your back pushing a lump into a cab, then good for you. I don't.

Sorry I'm new here and may have missed the point; but being female and under 8 stone I really have to say that I have NEVER found any w/chr pax that I couldn't get into my cab; using normal ramp or extensions; and electric wheel chairs are far far easier as there is no need to push, pull the lever and let the motor do the work surely.

The main rank that I use have pax access from the driver side which means that I have to turn my cab around to allow wheel chair access. What really [edited by admin] me off with this is saloon cars pulling up the rank and blocking the higher curb when its so obvious what I am doing and why!

If you drive a Wheel chair accessable vehicle I really can't see any reason why you refuse to take wheel chair pax. if you don't want to take them buy a saloon car.

I agree with your view, but it's worth noting some people have no choice but to buy a WAV.

IMO the heavier/harder WAV work comes via the phone.

Apologies for the swear word that Admin rightly removed - but I still can't see the problem with W/chr pax of what ever size! I regularly take pax in chairs that are more than three times my body weight so just where is the problem or health risks? Or is it; as is so so common locally that its easier to refuse than take the time to actually take these jobs?

I've been made aware of drivers charging approx £5 plus meter rate to take wheel chair jobs! This isn't on!!!!

To give you something to think about on this - I have done a w/chr job every week for the last three months; yes its a pain and it takes me 20 mins to gaim £3 - but ............ all things come to those that wait and have today got 3 X £350 bookings out of it! It it worth the hassle you bet it is!!!

Well if done in a taxi it's not only not on, it's illegal.

As for drivers avoiding WAV customers, might not be nice, but this trade has many drivers that aren't nice. :-$

you cant get a 16ft plank of wood into a 14ft room the point is that ele wheel chair or not covered by DDA, what this council is saying is whether a wheel chair or is covered by sec 53 TPC Act1847.

and yes there right it dose, but you will all no that not all wheel chairs go in all vehcile. but it would seem that is not excuse for this officer.
