Brian Curtis, 68, who has a lung condition and must travel everywhere with an oxygen cylinder, is one of many who rely on minicabs.

He said: "Where I live there is a restriction which means the cabs are not supposed to wait. But if they didn't wait I would be a prisoner in my own home.

"I am not just thinking of myself. There are many people in the same situation."

Que Brian the walking dead. :D

We tend to put our ability to speak in English to the punters first, followed by not sexualy assaulting them like your members tend to do, followed closely by knowing where we're going, followed up by knowing the opposition is lead by an illeterate fool like yourself, who also happens to be the founder of Bigots International.

All in all a very rosey future compared with your ' fiver an hour' side of the industry. :D

Anyones more important than a failed printer, minicab driver, human being like yourself.

. . . . And of course your low life union's not really exploiting him? Perhaps you threatend him like your union thugs usually do, or hold him to ransome like your union usually does to the public?
Hope your proud Mr Bigot.

Thats more like it Terry, back to the 'professional' branch rep hat.

Your a clown. :D

But you know why . . . .

'I can only say how shocked I was to have touched such a raw nerve and having exposed the socialist and distasteful value's of those in control of the drivers branch of the GMB, I hope he has done their recruitment drive serious damage and people see the ulterior motive of this socialist organisation for what it is. The typical response of a commited socialist in screaming racism, thug and murderers at those that have a difference of opinion to them politically shows just how poisioned the union is against any form of democratic opinion and laughable at best when he then refers to 'democratic procedures'

From a bigot who only learned to read and write 2 years ago, that's rich coming from you. Is that the best you can do? How angry are you that we know everything about you, and you know nothing about us?

Talking about swamps, how's the flat coming along?

Flannaguff the 'has been' strikes again. :D

Looking back through this thread it brings back happy memories, or was it only a few weeks ago? :D

Anyway here's Daliel Olev's take on the big meeting, it seems some what watered down and nearer reality compared to others yells of triumph.

Daniel was one of the first batch of minicab drivers to be licensed under the new system and subscribes to the LHPCA website.

People who initiated, devised and implemented The 1998 Act had very little interest in the well-being of the PH industry and its workers in London. They had very little interest in the safety of the public, in which name they claimed to have legislated. Most of all they were interested in our money. They have not failed in that. Over 55 million collected from you and me since the beginning of the implementation. Money, which is our profit. Money which you all know how hard is to make.

In return companies, drivers and cars got stickers that allowed them to come back to what they were already doing before – making a little living.

Where I came from they call it a racket. Here they call it democracy. I’d risk saying: racket is better. At least you get protection for your money.

With patience running low the organisers wisely designed the meeting as one way talking rally to avoid unnecessary flash of emotions. That might as well since the public speakers had a few questions to answer.

Ed Thompson was shaking a little leaflet that is being allegedly distributed at railway stations propagating a safe use of licensed mini-cabs.
The “heavy-weight” from Mayor’s office was happy to be alive.
The bleating from a couple MPs was just that – bleating.
Paul Kenny is a good salesman, but I would rather see a man of his statue doing some essential road works on London routes if he REALLY wants to help drivers.
Last but not least, highly respectable Steve Wright had to be dragged to the meeting and would not turn up for the fear of being lynched as a self-proclaimed architect of the Licensing until his personal safety was guaranteed by the organisers.
