I await with anticipation your definition of choice. The only choice that really matters is whether you can or can't obtain freely, a hackney carriage proprietors license, is it not?

No doubt you will separate the definition of choice in restricted and unrestricted areas and why a minority of areas remain restricted?

Is a level playing field not one that provides the same opportunities for everyone.

Is it not the case that anyone wishing obtain a HC plate in this area has to pay a fee to a current owner.

Is it not the case that current owners offer for sale their plates, and therefore no-one is forced to purchase.

Is it not the case that price for such a plate is determined by how much a person is willing to pay.

When the issue of fairness is raised it is only relative to the perspective of the writer ................... Mr Jasbar believes that it is not fair that he cannot get a plate for free but believes that it is fair for someone to lose £50,000 as long as he gets his free plate.

I believe that we need to seek a way that safeguards everyones interest and the attitude of Jasbar that he couldn't give a flying fook about anyone else does not bode well for the future of our trade.

And never forget that Little Jimmy's puppetmaster is on record as saying that if he were to be given a free plate he would immediately sell it, as he has done on two previous occassions. But of course that wasn't due to his financial incompetence, that was cos all the big boys were out to get him - aye right

Unfortunatly this is the motivation for many.

Personal greed is placed as more important that the best interest of the many ..................... the problem is that these people conduct their argument in the name of the many, and they should be exposed as such.

Grrrrrr! I'll cope one day  but until then I'll take each day as it comes

Don't you ever get bored playing the righteous man GA?

I know you are not the man you claim to be. If your self-esteem is so lacking why not go help kids in India or something of that nature. Then you won't have to look for victims claiming to be more moral than they. It's a sad state of affairs, looking for victims on a Taxi forum just to feel good about yourself.

GA, the righteous man, the moral man, the man to whom we should all aspire.

The fact is GA if you really are such a great guy you wouldn't be on here shoving it down peoples throats.

Get a life in the real world why don't you

Have you had a plate for free and sold it Jasbar?

Have you had a plate for free and sold it Torn Casualty?

How many of the last lot of plates given out in Edinburgh have been sold by who got them?

How many people are arguing for another plate after having one and sold it on?

Are the requests for plates being made by people who intend to use them or are they being made my people who intend to sell them?
