Hi

I haven't posted on here for some time. I believe the last time I posted I was going to sell my Sharan and Plate (Newcastle), and start importing sculptures (trying to get out the taxi game).
I decided not to sell up completely and only sell the Sharan. I then purchased a Doblo meaning I could work only 3 days per week (no car payments) and started importing the sculptures to sell on Ebay and online.
Unfortunately, after putting £40,000 into the import business and only just getting my money back in the 18 month period, I've decided that its time to sell the Doblo and go back to the taxis' full time again. As I'm needing a 7 seater, I've decided to go for the VW Caravelle SE.

The Doblo has done its job and I've had no major problems with the vehicle at all. The paint work is in excellent condition - engine is spot on and the inside of the taxi is in very good condition. The vehicle has only done 32,000 miles and I'm looking for an idea of price. I've looked on Ebay recently and I feel an asking price of around £7,500 could be quite close to the true value of the taxi. Does that sound about right? My mate said I could get £8,000 if I find the right guy.

The taxi would be sold without metre, top sign etc.

It'll be going on to Ebay in February and just wanted your views before I decided on the reserve price.

Cheers for any posts in advance.

Chris

I've always been of the view that to most licensed drivers this job is like a black hole, no matter how hard one tries to escape you still get sucked back in.

But welcome back none the less.

Just to let some possible buyers know that I'll be selling the Doblo in 2 weeks. It has just under 36,000 miles on the clock (they're genuine too!) Full service history and has been kept in very good condition. The paint work is still in first class condition too as its never been through a car wash (always done by hand).
I'm going to place it on Ebay with a reserve of £7,300.
What Car website quotes the vehicle at £7,000 but that is not converted to be a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. With the added high roof and also the wheelchair fixings etc I think £7,300 must be in the right ball park.
If there are any users which may be interested in the Doblo before it goes on Ebay please contact me. Email c.l.truman@btopenworld.com

Note: I would not be able to let the vehicle be sold before the 1st March.

The vehicle is available to view any time.

Cheers
Chris

I like it :-) ...very good.

I've been looking on Ebay over the Christmas period and also on Fish4 and I think my estimated price is about right. It has actually just had its 36,000 mile service today from Gainmanor, so anyone that buys it doesn't need to be messing about with services for a while.

PH plates (I believe) are not restricted. However, it is getting a bit of a joke in the Newcastle/Gateshead area. There's a loop hole (which I'm sure a good few of you know already), that someone can get a plate from, for arguing sake...Berwick - which do not require you to take a test to become a taxi driver and then go off with erm, lets say Blue Line Taxi's, and take work off the street in Newcastle City Centre.
Therefore, the company has managed to be able to accept bookings for Newcastle with a Berwick plated vehicle!! (I'll estimate Berwick to be around 100 miles from Newcastle).
It stinks and it's getting ridiculous the amount of Derwentside, Berwick and the rest of them that are making a mockery of this.
North Tyneside taxi companies SHOULD have their taxis ranked up, ready to take jobs off their radios somewhere in the vicinity of their base. However, the amount of "out of town" taxis that are literally "ranked up" in the town centre is incredible.
PH taxis that are taking flag downs - especially on Friday and Saturday -has got to be seen to be believed.
...and what do the Council do about it - Nowt!

...That’s my moan over. Anyone want to buy the taxi :-)

Chris

Hello all.

Just to inform you that the Doblo is now available on Ebay.

Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230102151872&rd=1&rd=1

As you can see from the photos the Doblo is in very good nick.

If you fancy a viewing....you're more than welcome.

Chris

I know one PH driver that does not pick up unless he's booked Chris.

But there again your right about the situation with plates from Outer Mongolia sitting outside Chase and the Gate.

B. Lucky :D

A reason why Hackney plates should be restricted?
