You suggest that multiple plateholders are taxi barons and the scum of the earth as they charge massive rentals to people who cannot afford a plate, and that I represent these people.

No so here, although it may well be the case where you are (but as we don't know where you are we have no opportunity to find out whether what your saying is actually true, although you know who I am and where I'm from and so can continually check as to whether my posts are true or not.)

In Gateshead the people who charge the most rent for a HC are PH operators who on top of the higher rental charge their radio rent.

I represent no PH operators.

No-one is able to get a plate at the minute in Gateshead ................. and soon they will only get one if they show the commitment to offer a professional service.

The job is simple; you pick people up and take them from a-b. I have yet to meet a taxi driver who thinks the job is anything else. The problem doesn’t drive the taxi it gets in the back full of attitude, drink or drugs. The cabby or at least the ones I know only want to get the job done as safely as possible get their money and go home.

But you don’t see this do you GA; you just see the opportunity to make victims to further your cause, claiming it’s all for “MY reputation or the reputation of the profession we all choose to work in”.

BOLLIX absolute BOLLIX; this is about you and others like you feeding off the ignorant while trying to silence those who point to your real motivation.

Oh and btw GA, I was convicted of a minor assault after confronting another cabby who was undercutting me for a fare on a rank. The cabby in question spat upon me which resulted in him getting a slap.

In my way of thinking this scum-bag not only devalued me but the whole trade. If the public see cabbies prepared to sell each other out for a handful of corn then we all lose.

You of course would condone this scum-bags action as being perfectly reasonable.

I then got a suspended for a month by the Council RC. A meeting at which I pointed out I had carried out over 150,000 hires with over 300,000 people passing through my taxi, without as much as one complaint. I told the RC to revoke the licence forthwith if I was indeed not “fit and proper person” to hold a licence. I also pointed out I would not become “fit and proper” after a months suspension. They bottled it. Why you might ask? They only wanted to make me an example of their power and what might happen if you dare to speak out against them.

A friend of mine had his licence suspended for a month for non-payment of a parking fine or should I say, pointing out that the hearing was a farce.

I know of others who have never lost a days work after being convicted of serious assault and narrowly escaping a prison sentences. I even know of one Edinburgh restaurateur who did receive a custodial sentence and never lost his licence.


You GA are only interested ins selling everyone out and seeing what you can get out of it.

So you think that a punter will keep using the services of taxidrivers even if they are treated badly by a driver.

Your "its just about taking people from A to B" arguement and your acceptance that the same opinion is shared by many of your colleagues seems to answer all the questions why you couldn't give a fook ....................... or could it be that no-one disagrees or answers you back just in case they get a slap.

Todays punters are tomorrows punters ................ fook them off and they become bus punters.

The customers are fickle but not stupid. As long as the ones who know how to behave keep doing so there is no problem. It’s you who are the problem GA, you and others like you. The only thing that motivates you is feeding off anyone who might give you power. You don’t empower people to take control for themselves; you want their power to become your control over them. This is what you peddle up at the Council. You are a fraud GA. The MrT’s and CC of this world are up to the same game but do give something back in return but only to keep people dependent on them.
