Question in your area is it normal practice to have to pay extra on a daily basis if your radio rent is not paid on the correct day , for example £5 a day extra on top of what you owe.

The reason I asked was I was wondering if the same rules now applying to banks would apply to the radio companies making this charge

And it also might well be a case for the OFT. or maybe not

Wouldn't it depend on the terms of the contract?

it would be very difficult to enforce something like that unless it was in a contract which the drivers has signed

But if the driver didn't pay up and the controller refused to give him work as a consequence then it would be impossible for the driver to do anything about it?

it depends on the firm i certainly don't operate like that but there again we only have about enough drivers to cover the work so if we go down a driver that can cause even bigger problems !

Our terms and contions are if you haven't paid for 2 weeks your off the system till you pay but you still incur rent if your suspended. Still nothing after a further 2 weeks your voted out and all equipment has to be returned. We haven't lost a car through this for some time! lol

I think it should never get to the stage of drivers getting chucked off for non-payment.

If they have money problems they should talk to the bosses, and if the bosses aren't listening, then the driver should leave.

But down here I think most of the firms would help out.

Round here if you don't pay by midday without a good excuse phoned in then your suspended until you do pay.
