Taxi tragedy

An inquest has been opened on a great grandmother who died after she was dragged along the ground when her coat became trapped in a taxi door.

Audrey Sharpe, 78, was being dropped off near her home in The Close East in South Pelaw, Chester-le-Street when the accident happened on Monday, March 26, at 4.15pm.

The taxi driver, 49, from Washington, set off but stopped when he realised she had been hurt. The pensioner was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham but died four days later. Her funeral will be held at Chester-le-Street Methodist Church tomorrow at 10am. An inquest has been adjourned.

I saw a similar thing happen to a little boy when he was getting out of a minibus once.

Thankfully the minibus didn't pull away very far and the lad was fine. [-o<
